ZAVITZ, David H., of Caressant Care on Mary Bucke, formerly of R.R.#4, St. Thomas, passed away at his late residence on Thursday, July 12, 2012, in his 89th year.  Beloved husband of the late Merle (nee Wilson) Zavitz (1994).  Dearly loved father of Charles Zavitz (Penny) of Sundridge, Douglas Zavitz (Terry) of London, the late Nancy Watson (2003), and the late David A. Zavitz (2003).  Cherished grandfather of Mark, Amber, Hugh, Tracey, Kurt, Renée, Russell, Jason, Justine, Jarrett, and the late Wesley.  Also survived by 13 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews.  David was predeceased by 2 brothers, Paul and Frank Zavitz, and by a sister, Betty Corner.  Born in Lobo Township, ON, October 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Russell and Marguerite (nee Haight) Zavitz.  David was a retired employee of the Canron Foundry, St. Thomas, the St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital, and C.P.R.I., Byron.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church, 6071 Fairview Road, R.R.#4, St. Thomas (corner of Fairview Road & Sparta Line) on Saturday, July 21st at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church Cemetery.  Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, or First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
