mother1_picAt Lambton Meadowview Villa on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, Katarzyna (Katherine) Zabokrzycki  passed away at the age of 95. Mother of Michael and Henry and sister of Michael Swacha (Chicago). Predeceased by her mother Anna, husband Michael and brother Walter. She will be missed by daughter-in-law Joan and grand-daughter Margaret. She was born on the day World War I ended. During World War II she served as a Royal Air Force WAAF stationed in Rhodesia. Together with her husband, brothers and mother she escaped invading Nazi forces in Poland, and after a long and difficult journey through Russia and the Middle East, she immigrated to Canada in 1950. Here, she raised her family and prospered after a difficult childhood and early adult life during times of political instability, economic hard times, revolution and wars in Europe. She was a good mother, hard worker, terrific Polish cook and will be missed. May she rest in peace. In keeping with Katarzyna’s wishes, no service will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
