YOUNG,Ken picture 2Kenneth Martin Young:  Peacefully and surrounded by the love of family at the Sarnia Bluewater Health Centre, on Friday, August 30th, 2013 in his 89th year.  Predeceased by his father William, mother Veronica Pauline and brother John (Jack) Roderick, Ken is survived by his beloved wife Eunice (nee Ford), children Leslie Nelson (Keith, deceased), Scott (Lori) and adoring grandchildren Lindsey Nelson, Robyn, Holly and William (Will) Young.  Born and raised in Sarnia, Ken served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII, returning to Sarnia in various capacities before beginning a career at DOW Chemical which would last 38 years.  Ken was a long time member of Grace United Church, the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, the Sarnia Yacht Club and St. Paul Masonic Lodge 601.  Active in curling, golf, travel and tennis over the course of his lifetime, Ken is most fondly remembered by all those who knew him for his passion for reading, articulation of the English language, contagious sense of humor and a fondness for all things Canadian.  Cremation has taken place.  The family invites friends to join them in celebrating Ken’s bountiful life on Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, followed by a light reception.  In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please). smithfuneralhome.ca
