Young, Ian web Feb25YOUNG, Ian Norman – F.I.M.I., M.S.A.E.  Born in Godstone, Surrey, England on July 3, 1934 and died on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.  Beloved husband of Lynn and dear stepfather of Erin Thomson (Brian), Rob Wood (Laura), and Cait Wood (Jeff Douthwright); step-grandfather of Robbie, Rebekah, Erika, Kaija, and Keagan; dear uncle of Gary Young (Jan), Paul Young (Donna), Jane Young, Guy Hescott (Karen), Susan Edwards (Brian), and Stewart Hescott (Caroline); dear great-uncle of Chris, Sam, Jack, and Faith; and dear brother-in-law of Yvonne Young, Norman Hescott, Jacqui Blackhall, and Bill Blackhall.  Predeceased by his parents, Richard and Gertrude, brother Gerald, and sister Jean.

Ian established Young Imports in 1961.  He lived British cars and motorcycles and loved classical music and his animals, especially Alice.  Ian enjoyed teaching, having taught high school in, St. Mary’s, Hamilton and Niagara Falls.  Throughout the years, Ian trained numerous apprentices.  Ian enjoyed a pint with his friends and could always tell a great story.  “We have an Ian,” (Kaija), a brilliant man who “never lost his passion for life, creating mischief and the ability to divide opinion.  He lived life as it should be lived – not too seriously to enjoy – a mantra he will take forward with him.” (Guy).

Cremation has taken place.  A private family service was held at Stamford United Church.  For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Fort Erie S.P.C.A. through MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME 5917 Main Street.
