Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and friends at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Saturday, December 13, 2014, Ronald F. Yorke passed away at the age of 71. Beloved husband of the late Mary Netta Yorke (2012).  Cherished father of Craig (Lisa), and Steve (Michelle).  Devoted grandfather of Lance, Emma and Tate.  Loved brother of Ward (Karen) Yorke, Patricia (John) Craig, and John (Carol) Yorke. Dear brother-in-law of Sylvia (late Bob) Gardner. Sadly missed by “surrogate daughters” Stacey MacKinlay and Kelly Bowman, their families and many other nieces and nephews.  Survived by his close friend Gloria Dawe. Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Ruth Yorke and son Christopher. Ron was a high school teacher for 32 years, retiring as Business Director at SCITS, and coached hockey and soccer. He was past president of Bluewater Optimist Club and Chairman of Bluewater Trails. He was a founder of the Sarnia Bike Month and Captain of “Team Yorke” for the MS Bike Tour for 17 years. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held to celebrate Ron’s life on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Smith Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m., with family and friends being received one hour prior to the service.  The interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.  Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, M.S. Society or Bluewater Trails (cheques only at the funeral home please).
