WOON, Lois Elaine (nee Kaumeyer) – Peacefully, on March 1st, 2013 in her 86th year, Elaine passed away. She was born in Chippawa, the eldest daughter of J.C. Sheldon Kaumeyer and Ruth E. Kaumeyer (Williams). She is survived by her two sisters Marilyn Mavity (Dennis) of Newport, Oregon and Marion Jackson (Bill) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; her son John W. Woon (Lynda) of Toronto and her daughter Wendy E. Woon (Nathan Sanchez) of New York City as well as her three grandchildren Ruth Boyd (Jonathan), Billy Woon, and Ethan Sanchez. She was a friend to many.
After a successful career in business with Kaumeyer Paper Products Ltd., she travelled and pursued charitable work in the Niagara community and an active Christian life with the Drummond Hill Presbyterian Church. She was a world traveler, choir singer, gardener and an avid lover of the arts. She graduated from Queen’s University with Arts ‘49 and was an over 60 year member and Past President of the Canadian Federation of University Women Niagara Falls Branch.
The family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario, on Wednesday March 6, 2013 from 2– 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the United Way of Niagara Falls, GNGH Foundation, Queen’s University at Kingston, Drummond Hill Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
