Wood, Donald Ernest “Don” of London and formerly of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 18th, 2012, surrounded by his family, in his 73rd year. Loved husband of Eralda Wood and the late Marlene Wood (1995) and loving dad to Debbie Hamilton (Dan Cromp) of St. Thomas, Lesah Wood of Mississauga, David Wood of Vancouver and step-father to George Marr (Carin) of Lucan, Kim Marr (Ted Stewart) of R.R. 6 St. Thomas, Donna Marr of St. Thomas, Laurie (Carey) of London and Greg. Dear brother of Richard Wood (Karen) of Staffordville and Joan Thompson (George) of Strathroy. Loving grandfather “Poppa” to 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. Don was born in St. Catharines on November 14th, 1940, the son of the late Miller and Ida (Howey) Wood. He was retired from Ford. He worked a number of years at Talbotville and the past 9 years in Kansas City.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Don’s life will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow, with private interment of ashes in Springfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of choice.

“We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and the staff at L.H.S.C. (Victoria Campus) for all the support and time they spent with the family and also for the special quality care they gave to Don in his last days with us.
