Passed away peacefully at Leamington District Memorial Hospital on December 8, 2013 at 94 years of age. Dear husband of the late Madeleine (nee Daudelin). Son of the late John and Grace Diemer. Loving father of Barbaranne and husband Ronald Kroll of Thornhill, Les Diemer and wife Annette of Leamington, Jay Louise and husband James LaCourse of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Gisele Diemer of South Korea, Dan Diemer and wife Bobbi of Woodslee, Melanie DesRoches of Canmore, Alberta, Rudy Diemer and wife Terresa of Rockwood. Treasured grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Stanley and wife Bertha, the late Alphonse, husband of Nora Jean, the late Bernadine St. Pierre and husband Laurent, the late Gerald, husband of Irene, the late Eileen, wife of the Willy Desimpel, and the late John Diemer (1934). Charlie worked on the family farm since the age of eleven and was actively involved with numerous farm organizations. He was the founding president of the Essex County Federation of Agriculture. As a volunteer and charter member of the Woodslee Credit Union in the late 1940s, he operated it from home and ensured its survival and growth. He served as the first volunteer, treasurer and manager of the Essex Medical Co-operative, which provided health care coverage before OHIP. Charlie was grateful to have been given so much trust by the community, family and friends. Charlie was a recipient of the Order of Canada in 1985 and the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2012. He was inducted into the Essex County Agriculture Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2012. He was a 74 year member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus # 2775 Belle River and a member of the St. Francis 3rd Order Group in Tecumseh. Visitation Wednesday 2-5 and 7-9 pm. Parish Prayers Wednesday 4 p.m. followed by K of C Prayers 7:30 pm at the Melady Funeral Home at 572 Notre Dame, Belle River (519) 728-1500. Reunited with Mary (2009), his loving wife with whom he shared 57 of the best years of his life. Devoted and cherished father of Pat Boyd (David Cavill), Neil (Terrilyn), Kathy Tellier (Don), and Michael (2005) (Beci). Loving and devoted father to Wayne and wife Mary of Tecumseh; Lori Patterson and the  late Steven (2009) of Mississauga. Cherished grandpa to Michael and Sean Carpenter and Jeffrey and Kelly Patterson. Dear son of the late Evelyn (1967) and Frank (1981). Survived by his brother Elwood and wife June. Dear brother in law to Harvey Reaume, Bill Simard, and Marie Simard. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Bud was a Veteran of WWII having served from 1942 – 1945 in the Royal Canadian Navy on McNabs Island and aboard the corvette HMCS Kenogami. He retired from the Windsor Fire Department as District Chief after 35 years of dedicated service. Bud will be remembered for his love of travel, photography and anything electronic. He loved his winters in Florida and  his summers at the family cottage on Lake Erie. Dogfish from 1962 till 1966 and the Canadian Reserves. He retired after 38years of service with Windsor Utilities and was a volunteer Fire Fighter with Sandwich West (LaSalle) Fire Department for 10 years. Impens,Rita paperBorn October 14, 1921, Gone to be with Our Lord and Saviour. The Matriarch of our family has passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Erie Glen Manor at age 92. Daughter of the late Frank (1938) and Charlotte (1947) (Vigneux) Lamotte. Beloved wife of the late Charles Joseph Impens (2004). Dearest mother of Linda and Louis Marentette, Cathy and Larry Sumner, Jim and Diana Impens, John and Judy Impens, the late Charles Joseph Impens (1954), Robert and Robin Impens, Patrick and Judy Impens, Perry and Marlene Impens, Sgt. Charles and Sandra Impens. Treasured Grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Dearest sister of the late Ernest (Ella) Lamotte, Marion (late Joe) Howe, the late Rosie (late Ralph) Ciliska, the late Theresa (Joe) Bonyai, Maurice Lamotte, the late Florence (late Ferd) Impens, the late Henry Lamotte, Ted (Annette) Lamotte, Kay (Walter) Balsam, Joe (Nola) Lamotte. She’ll be sadly missed by sister-in-law, Emma Moody and brother-in-law, Maurice Impens. She was admired and respected by many nieces and nephews. Rita was born in Windsor moving to Albuna at 12 years of age, there she lived on the Lamotte farm until it sold and moved to Leamington in 1961. Robson Road became her and Dad’s favourite home with the doors open to all family and friends day and night. Mom worked as a first aid nurse at Sun Parlor Home and Canadian Canners until her retirement at age 60. Rita was a longtime member and Past President of the CWL. She volunteered her time to many nursing homes and meals on wheels. She was a great supporter of Right to Life with the making of angels and rosaries. Her hobbies were crochetting afghans, making family tie blankets, puzzles, cards and board games. The family would like to thank the staff of Erie Glen Manor where she has lived for the past 2 1/2 years for their tender care and compassion. Also St. Elizabeth Health Care and CCAC for their personal support these past few weeks. Mom’s generous, kind and gentle soul will live on in the hearts of the many lives she had so lovingly touched. Haitsma, Clare winceHAITSMA: Clarence “Clare”- A resident of Ridgetown, Clare Haitsma passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the age of 67. Born in Boer, The Netherlands, Clare was the son of the late Hoite and Rinske (van de Wal) Haitsma. Beloved husband of 25 years to Jackie Haitsma (nee Waite). Loving father of Stephanie Rumble (Scott) of Ridgetown, Jennifer Raymundo (Sal) of Windsor and Erin Trudgen (Brent Snary) of Dresden. Will be missed by special friends Linda Martin and Rob Foote. Proud papa of Owen Trudgen, Sean Rumble, Andrew Raymundo, Shanna Rumble, Brodi Snary, Nikole Martin Campbell, Danielle Martin Campbell, Edwin Raymundo and Lily Snary. Clare is survived by his brother John Haitsma of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Dear uncle to Daniel Haitsma and great-uncle to Annexie Haitsma, both of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Sadly missed by his four-legged companion Daisy. Clare is reunited with his best pal Bailey. Also missed by many friends, co-workers and extended family. Clare worked at Charron Transport for nearly 20 years. Clare was a an avid vegetable gardener, specializing in green beans, potatoes and tomatoes. As per Clare’s wishes, cremation will take place with a private interment to be held at a later date.
