It is with brokenBanjavcic hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Magda , a loving Mother & Baka on February 21, 2016 at the age of 69 years. Survived by Ivan Banjavcic. Loving and devoted mother to Jackie Kivisto (Dean) and Terry Banjavcic (Jackie). Cherished Baka to Rebecca, Curtis, Tyler and Ella. Dear sister to Anka, Kata, Marijan, Drago and Joza all of Croatia, Slovenia and Germany. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and family in Croatia. Magda retired from the GM Trim Plant with over 25 years of dedicated service, and was a faithful and devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Extremely proud grandpa of 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his 2 brothers and 3 sisters, John, William, Mary, Elena and Kitza. Mike was a member of the original Spitfire Hockey Team in 1945-1947 in the OHA, also in the IHL. Mike started his trade at the Canadian Bridge Company. He was a long standing member of Ironworkers Local 700 and Michigan Local 25. Establishing M. Russ Ltd., and never really retiring. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at 2 North of Dr. Y. Albina was a compassionate, intelligent and generous person, a dedicated mother, wife and grandmother to her 5 grandchildren. Albina was born on May 30, 1933 in Kapetanovo Polje, Croatia, and travelled to Canada in 1956 with her beloved husband Gustav, and two sons Franz and Oskar Pimiskern to make their life together in Leamington. Albina is survived by her husband, Gus, and sons Franz and Oskar, daughter-in-law Anne, and cherished grandchildren Andrea, David, Christine (Oscar and Anne) and Pierce and Zane (Frank and Shar). Albina completed a successful 25(+) year career with HJ Heinz in the payroll department and enjoyed a long and healthy retirement. Albina was loved by many for her wit, razor sharp mind, rich life experience and expertise in a host of artistic activities. Albina was a passionate quilter, seamstress, crafter, baker and canner, and she provided her family and friends with much joy. She will be missed by many. Devoted mother of Carolyn Burn (David), Doug Atkinson (Susan), daughters-in-law Debbie Poole Lester, and Kay Atkinson. Adored grandmother of Jason Atkinson (Kristina), Jeremy Atkinson (Nadja). Proud great grandmother of Amber (Michael) and Nolia, and great great grandmother of Sophia, step grandmother of Steve (Ellen), Sandy (Barry), Alison (Alan), Amanda (Dave), Charlene, and step great grandmother of Taylor, Max, Danny, Jude, Avery, Brandy, and Armando. Born in Tignish, PEI but lived and worked most of her life in Chicago as a psychiatric nurse, Frances spent many years supporting the wellness of those who struggled with mental health. Within her career she was distinguished for her dedication, compassion and professionalism.

Predeceased by dear friend and lifelong companion Gene Hoffman (Chicago) and by parents Emma (Gaudet), Edward DeRoche and step-father Octave Gaudet. Sister to Dr. James DeRoche (late Mary), Edward DeRoche (Anne), the late Felicia Bering (late Peter) and the late Gerard DeRoche (Margaret). TRUANT, Ronald

web_TRUANTToday we celebrate the life of Ron Truant, one who lived his life with purpose, in order to make a difference. Born June 7, 1950, was called by Our Lord February 16, 2016. Husband of Noella (nee Palamides), the love of his life, “joined at the hip” for more than 43 years. Father of Jeffrey (Antoinette), Christina Chauvin (Jason) and Stephen (Tina). Proud Nonno of Giuliana, Jack, Enzo and Olivia Truant, Ryan, Justin and Nathan Chauvin and Evalee and Kaitlyn Truant. Dear son of Ora & Walter (1996) Truant and son-in-law of Gus (2005) and Velma (1992) Palamides. Brother to Patricia and Kerry (2006) Fitzpatrick. Brother-in-law to Dennis (2013) and Deirdre Palamides, Joe and Cathy Palamides and April (2008) and Jim MacKinnon. Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A Chartered Accountant by background, Ron had a very diverse career, beginning at the age of 13 in a family owned heavy construction business, Keystone Construction. Starting as a timekeeper, he progressed to heavy equipment operator and ultimately to field project superintendent. He then pursued a career in Public Accounting, obtaining his professional designation in 1976. He held a number of positions with national firms until moving into International Consulting in 1980. Beginning with an Educational Development Project for the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, Lagos, Nigeria and then founding his own consulting practice, he moved on to projects throughout Southeast Asia (China, Philippines, Indonesia) Trinidad, South Florida and Louisiana. Further, during this period Ron served as a Sessional Instructor for the Faculty of Business, University of Windsor (1978-1984). Tired of the rigors of travel, Ron then held senior management positions in the retail automotive business in Windsor and London, Ontario.

In 1989, Ron became a partner in Crescent Tool & Die Limited and later merged with Electromac Tool, forming The Electromac Group (Tooling & Stamping) where he was co-owner until his semi-retirement.

Intensely proud of his Italian roots, Ron was a member of the Fogolar Furlan Club and the Giovanni Caboto Club. He was also a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.

Ron lead a very active and busy life outside of work. He was both a Trustee, Board of Governors, The Windsor Catholic High School Board, and a former Board member, Board of Governors, Diocesan Roman Catholic High School Board of Windsor. In addition he had a passion for and was involved in Health Care Governance for over 30 years. He served as a President of The Inn of Windsor, was a founding member of The Teen Health Center (House of Phoenix), a Board member of Brentwood Recovery Home, Vice-Chair of the former Malden Park Center (now part of Hotel Dieu-Grace Healthcare) former Chair of Windsor Regional Hospital, Board Member with Hotel Dieu-Grace Healthcare and Chair of Governance and Finance Committees with The Windsor Cancer Research Group (WCRG). Ron believed in the core values and mission of Hospice and was a strong supporter of The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County where he became quite involved in consulting on their Capital Works Program.
