Passed away surrounded by his loving family, on November 3, 2013 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer, at 58 years of age. Loving husband to Rosemary (nee Herniman) and Dad to Todd. Predeceased by his parents Fermus (1974) and Emma (1989), sister Bernice (1936), brother Donald (1951), brother Bernard (1975), sister Leona (2011), sister-in-law Gerry (2003), brothers-in-law Doug Thompson (1977), Marvin Dupuis (2001), Louis Janisse (2012) and Irvin Brush (2013). Loving brother of Stan (Judy), Lawrence (Marilyn), Francis (Jeannette), Lorraine Janisse, Annette DiCarlo (Joe), Carol Brush, Leonard (Antoinette), Clarence (Donna), Roy, Jeannette Prisley (Dale), Juliette Bellemore, and Pauline Nantais (Rick). Son-in-law of the late Bill (2013) and Shirley (2009) Herniman. Brother-in-law to Denise Solinger (Brian) of Calgary, Alberta; Todd Herniman (Yvette) of Cambridge, Ontario, Uncle of Faith Herniman and brother-in-law of Al Bellemore. Dennis was the youngest of 17 children from one of the largest families in LaSalle and took pride in that. Survived by 54 nieces & nephews, 66 great-nieces & nephews, 20 great-great nieces & nephews and many cousins. Dennis was a very dedicated employee at the Windsor Salt Mine for 36 years & a member of Local #1959. He was a 3rd degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #5642. Dennis also had a natural talent working with wood and could fix almost anything. He will be remembered for all the nice “Corvettes” he owned, for being an avid sports fan, and for hanging out with his buddies in his “Mancave” watching sports & listening to Joe Cocker. “Daddy” will be especially missed by his furry friends Spookey, Ginger & Jennifur. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Downtown Mission or the Brentwood Recovery Home. Visitation Wednesday from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Prayers Wednesday 4 p.m. Funeral Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at Families First, 2130 Front Rd, LaSalle (519-969-5841) to Sacred Heart Church for words of Remembrance at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow.
