With her beloved husband Jim and their three girls, Lisa (Glenn Delaney), Kristin (Jim Dalton) and Alisha (Patrick Newsome) by her side, Elaine (nee McIntosh) Willis passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Elaine will be missed by so many, especially her pride and joys, her grandchildren: Aiden, Reid and Clarke Delaney, Cohen and Leo Dalton, and Niamh, Fiona and Lucy Newsome. Elaine grew up in Lindsay, Ontario, beloved eldest daughter of the late Marie and Stuart McIntosh and cherished sister of Norm (Barb) McIntosh. It was in Lindsay in her Grade 9 year, that Elaine met the love of her life, Jim. They were one another’s biggest cheerleaders. It was their love of hockey that led them to Petrolia where they settled down and built their family and supportive community ties. Elaine went on to be the president of many organizations that her girls were involved in, including The Petrolia and District Figure Skating Club and Kiddie Corner Co-op. She also dedicated her time to serving her community both as a nurse and as a treasured volunteer with the New Life Assembly Missions Room and The Heart and Stroke Foundation. Elaine’s love touched the lives of so many people both locally and abroad, demonstrated by her many mission trips to Uzbekistan and Haiti. She was a thoughtful and talented crafter, admired organizer, avid bird watcher and devoted friend. She loved nothing more than cuddling her grandchildren and being surrounded by family and friends. Her patriotic spirit, faith and humanitarian efforts will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, brother, as well as her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and treasured nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thank you to her faithful family and friends, Dr. Enoch Daniel, and the wonderful healthcare teams at C.E.E. Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospice. Visitors will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at New Life Assembly, 421 Oozlofsky St., Petrolia. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a donation to New Life Assembly Mission Fund or Petrolia Food Bank. Memories and condolences may be shared on-line at www.needhamjay.com.
