Died peacefully at Twin Lakes Terrace, Sarnia on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Born in Scotland and raised in Kirkland Lake, Sarah “Sadie” Wilder (nee McCallum), 93 years, was the daughter of Malcolm and Frances McCallum. Sadie was predeceased by her husband Gordon (1968) and is survived by her daughter Barbara and her husband John Wright, and her grandsons Edward and Robert and his wife Meagan. She is also survived by her brother Sandy McCallum, her brother-in-law Rod Bellavance, and her many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sisters Betty Bellavance and Margaret Currell. Sadie spent 28 years as an R.N.A. in the children’s ward of Sarnia General Hospital. Sadie was an adventurous type who loved gardening, camping and fishing, and she traveled to many places with family including Jamaica, Venezuela, Italy, all over North America and her homeland of Scotland. She also loved opera and was known to write poetry on occasion. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia. Mr. Allan McKeown officiating. Visitors will be received prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in Hillsdale Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Withers, Dr. Prendiville, and all the excellent and caring staff at Twin Lakes Terrace and Nursing Home, as well as Denise and Jerry Broderick and Heather Virostik.
