WHALEN, FREDERICK RENDAL December 5, 2013 and DOROTHY ISABEL November 22, 2013 – Peacefully, thirteen days apart at the Peterborough Regional Health Center.  Ren was a charter member of the Keene Lions Club, local Barber – owner of the Terminal Barber Shop, King Street Peterborough and Whalens Sports Shop and Barber Shop, Keene.  Past President of the Peterborough Radio Control Model Flying Club and an avid hunter and fisherman.  Dorothy was member of the Keene Lions Club, co-owner of Whalen’s Sport Shop and avid Toronto Maple Leafs Fan.  Dear parents of Darrell Whalen (Jeannine) of Victoria, B.C., Debbie Whalen (Gerry Loftus), Karen (Kevin Mooney) all of Peterborough, Steve (Debbie Clark), Jeff Whalen, Shawn Whalen all of Keene. In-laws to the late Janet Garvey.  Loving grandparents of Lauren (Jason Pickerton), Todd (Lisa Zak), Erin (Jonathan Ingraham), Eric, Molly (Andy Wasyliw), Kaleigh Mooney, Keegan, Denvers and great grandparents to Iain.  Ren was brother of Doug Whalen of Keene and Fred Whalen (Margaret) of San Antonio, Texas.  Brother-in-law to the late Greta Whalen. Dorothy was a sister to the late June Drury and sister-in-law to the late Bob Drury.  Friends will be received at the COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL HOME – ASHBURNHAM CHAPEL, 840 Armour Road, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013.  A memorial service will be held in the Ashburnham Chapel on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation one hour prior. A reception for Ren & Dorothy will be held at the Keene Lion’s Den following the service.  A family inurnment, Keene Upper Cemetery.  If desired, condolences to the family, directions to the service and donations to the Keene Lions Club may be made at www.CommunityAlternative.ca or by calling (705) 740-0444.
