Westaway  – Laurence Henry, passed away December 11, 2012 at Terrace Lodge, Aylmer, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years Barbara (Benn) Westaway (2007). Much loved father of John Westaway of London, Jeff Westaway of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Tim Westaway (Paula) of Sarnia, Greg Westaway (Linda) of Union, Monica Cara (Michael) of Peterborough, and Larry Westaway (Vicky) of St. Thomas. Loved grandfather of Rebecca, Dennis, Brandy, Jennifer, Chris, Lauren, Sarah, Ben, Alex, Max, Andrew and Jack. Predeceased by his cherished granddaughter Kelly Westaway (2004). Great grandfather to five. Predeceased by a sister Marion Rattray, and survived by a brother Bud Westaway. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. The family holds dear Rose Shaver as a close personal friend of “Westy” and our family. Laurence was born August 12, 1928 in St. Thomas, the son of the late Henry and Gladys Westaway. He retired after a long and distinguished career as a brakeman and conductor with the C&O Railroad. He also spent many years travelling the rural roads of Southern Ontario selling aerial farm pictures. He was a long time member of the St. Thomas Golf and Country Club, and a member and of the St. Thomas and Port Stanley Legion. He cherished his many years vacationing with the love of his life, Barbara in Florida, and had many fond memories of sun drenched summers at the family cottage on Koshlong Lake in the Haliburton Highlands. The family will receive family and friends at the Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Thursday from 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00am.
