WEIR: ROY of Lakefield

14029 Weir Roy1WEIR: ROY  – Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, proudly beating much of his family to God on Wednesday, February 5, 2014.  To the rich community of friends and relatives he leaves behind, he imparts a legacy of laughter through his stories, jokes and wisdom.  His battle was lengthy and often lively but he never lost that wicked sense of humour or the twinkle in his mischievous grin.  He will be remembered for his dedication to his family: his precious wife Julie (nee Brisebois); beloved sons Stuart and Stephen (Jenny); sister Susan Berlingeri (Don) and brother John Weir (Dorothy). Nephews and nieces Aileen, Collin, Nathan, Adam, Michael, Angela and Jonathan will all pass stories of crazy Uncle Roy to future generations: his great nieces and nephews Isaac, Ryan, Ben, Hunter, Angelo and Josephine. Roy will be missed by the family on Maple Street.  “Coffee Break” Roy will also be missed by his Brothers at the McCool Lake hunt camp. Roy is undoubtedly happy to be reunited with his predeceased parents Patrick and Doris, his twin brother Lorne, and his niece Kathy.  Roy lived a life dedicated to helping others through careers in nursing, Health and Safety and with the Ministry of Labour as a Construction Inspector. A believer in honesty and integrity, Roy donated much of his time in advocacy of causes such as the Timmins Flood Victims, Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Red Cross. Friends and relatives may visit on Friday February 7 from 2-4 and 7- 9 p.m. at ASHBURNHAM FUNERAL HOME 840 Armour Road (just north of Parkhill).  A Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel followed by a reception. If desired directions to the service, condolences to the family or memorial donations to the P.R.H.C. Palliative Care Ward, Canadian Cancer Society, or Canadian Mental Health Association as expression of sympathy may be made at or by calling (705)740-0444.
