WEBB PhotoPeacefully, Frederick Philip Webb passed away at the age of 93 at home surrounded by his family.  Predeceased by Jean, his beloved wife of 67 years, only four short months ago. Much loved father of Adrian (Nancy) Webb, Jennifer (Ronald) Gordon, and Joanne Webb (Ronald Broda). Pop was the proud and loving grandfather of Aaron and Christopher Webb, Matthew (Lindsay), and Daniel Gordon, Taylor, Eden, and Dylan Broda.  Also very dear to him were Scott (Stacy), Mark (Patti), and Chris (Claire) Gordon, and their families. Loved and remembered by his many nieces and nephews both in Canada and England.  Specially cared for with weekly home baked British specialties by loved niece Irene Gifford. Dad used both his names. To his British family and on Sundays he was Philip and at work and to his Canadian friends and family he was known as Fred. Dad was born in Derby, England on July 4, 1921, the eldest in a close family of four where he was raised and nurtured in faith.  He remained a proud Brit all his life. He was predeceased by his brother Gordon Webb and sister Joan Thompson, and is survived by his youngest brother and sister-in-law Peter and Mavis Webb, and sister-in-law Joyce Webb. Dad emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1952 and soon began his career with Ontario Hydro retiring from his position as Operating Manager from Lambton GS in 1986 after many enjoyable years. He was a man of many interests and was an avid coin and stamp collector, creative writer, book collector, and family genealogist. To our mother’s chagrin he never met a garage sale or flea market that wasn’t worth braking for! Most of all, though, our Dad was an avid bible student who loved his God and his family, and he taught us all how to live by the way he gently lived his faith on a daily basis.  We will miss his dry wit, his sage advice, his guidance and his love so very much. Dad now rests, in the hope of the Resurrection by God’s grace. The family would like to thank Dr. Glen Maddison and the VON nurses for their wonderful home care. And thank you to our parent’s loving caregivers. As my Dad always said “We have been very well blessed.” Visitation and service will take place at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday July 29th 2014.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
