It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elwood Webb on Thursday, May 22, 2014 in his 91st year.
Left to mourn their loss is the love of his life for over 65 years – Lilly (Wilson) their three cherished daughters, Lynn and Dennis Underwood, Karen and John Kelly, and Gayle and Ted Fairbank.
He dearly loved his 8 grandchildren; Michael (Brianne) Kelly, Tyler (Amanda) Pitcher, David (Sarah) Kelly, Lindsey Cook, Nicole (David) Shukster, Adam McLennan (Jacquie Henderson), Amber Fairbank (Rob Moore) and Joshua Fairbank and his 7 great-grandchildren; Austin, Nathan and Riley Cook, Brayden and Blaire Kelly, Lilly Shukster, and William Kelly, his loving sister, Meril (Earl Cunningham) and sister-in-law Isobell Webb, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Robert (Hazel) and Ray, and sister Louise (Lorrie Clarke).
Elwood was an active member in the community of Painswick; Owning and operating Webb Brothers Service Station in partnership with his brother Robert for 52 years. Volunteer fireman with the Stroud Fire Department for 36 years, member of the Minerva Lodge # 304 AF AM Stroud, Canadian Legion, Army and Navy Club of Barrie, and was a member of the Probus Club. He was also a member of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment in St. Catherines. Elwood enjoyed playing cards with the Seniors Club in Stroud, Allandale and Parkview and with his family; Karen was almost always his partner in family competitions. Elwood enjoyed sports: hockey, golf, curling, baseball and fishing. With help and thanks to, Graham Webb and John Kelly, Elwood was able to go ice fishing in the 2014 season.
Celebration of life to be held at St. James United Church (2230 Victoria St. W., Stroud, Ont.) on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 12:00 to 2:00pm for visitation. Memorial service to follow at 2:00pm.
