June 29, 1931 – October 18, 2013

Reunited with her beloved Jimmy after being apart for more than fifty years, Arlene has joined those who have left this world ahead of her, but have remained close to her heart and constantly in her thoughts: her parents, Gordon and Lydia Laur; brothers Gordon, Levi, Lawrence, Eli, Lester, Richard and Wilmer; son-in-law Robert Jeffrey and grandson Timothy Warren. She was a devoted mother to James (Lori), Garry (Beth), Gordon (Heather), Rick (Mary Jane), and Wendy Jeffrey. Widowed in 1963 at the age of 31 with five young children to raise, Arlene worked as a bookkeeper at Windsor Arena before securing full time employment at Riverview Hospital until its closing, retiring from Windsor Regional Hospital as a switchboard operator. She was a cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt; much loved sister of Betty (David) Hess and Norman (Laura) Laur, and sister-in-law of Margaret Laur. She will be dearly missed by her adored little companion, Rico. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Arlene’s life at Families First Funeral Home 2130 Front Road. LaSalle (519-969-5841) on Wednesday, October 23 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., with a memorial service to begin at noon. Considering her passionate devotion to the pets she rescued during her lifetime, donations to the Windsor Essex County Humane Society in Arlene’s name would be a very fitting tribute if so desired.
