Waite- Leroy Beverly of Port Stanley passed away at the Extendicare Home on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in his 85th year. Survived by the love of his life Bette Louise (Gray) Waite and loving father of Richard “Burnie” and his wife Lisa Waite and Beth Ann and her husband Bradley Connors all of Port Stanley. Loved grandfather of Tricia Waite (Brian Holden) and great-grandfather of Alexis and Averie Waite. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Leroy was predeceased by his sister Clara Waite and by his precious grandson Dale Richard Waite (2013). Leroy was born December 21, 1929 in Woodstock the son of the late Thomas Waite and Alice Pronger. He was a commercial pilot and was a crop duster.  Leroy retired as supervisor at V.M.E. He then went on to work as the King George Lift Bridge Operator for the village of Port Stanley for over 15 years. This was the job he loved the most and he spent many happy hours in the tower of the bridge. Leroy was a life member of the Port Stanley Lions Club for over 50 years until due to his declining health he could no longer attend meetings. He was also a 50 year member of the Camp Glory Hunting Club.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Eyes Right or to the Lions Foundation of Canada (Guide Dogs).A Memorial service will be conducted by members of the Port Stanley Lions Club on Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m.
