VatersElmer Aug 2Peacefully at his summer home in Cobourg, Ontario with his family by his side, Elmer Vaters at 82 years of age passed away to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Cherished husband of Beulah Vaters (Kelloway). Dear father of David (Susan) and Gary (Pamela). Beloved grandfather of Kimberley and Michael. Brother of Dorothy King, Hope Faulkner (Seth), Raymond Vaters and Albert Vaters (Anita). Son of the late Rev. Eugene and Sarah Vaters.

Elmer Vaters was a notable business and political figure in Newfoundland, Canada, for many years. In 1968 Elmer moved his family and School, Church and Auditorium Furniture business to Toronto, Ontario. He later became involved in real estate, land development in the USA and Canada and had other successful businesses. Never one to retire, Elmer wrote and published an autobiography book entitled “The Preachers Kid” in 1999. He followed his father footsteps later in life and became an ordained minister in 2003 to minister in prisons and hospitals. He spoke occasionally to congregations in Newfoundland, Florida, Texas and Ontario.

Elmer went home to be with both his earthly and heavenly father! Praise God!

A Funeral Service will be held at the Church on the Hill, 594 Courthouse Rd in Cobourg on Friday, August 8th, at 11 am. Interment to follow at Cobourg Union Cemetery. Visitation to be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Thursday, August 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
