Owen obit
July 17, 2013 – January 3, 2015
On January 3, 2014, at the age of 17 months,  Owen was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He fought bravely but lost his earthly battle with MECP2 Duplication Syndrome. He is the beloved son of Kees and Laura van Houwelingen and loved little brother of Marco.  Also left to cherish his memory are his grandparents Arie and Els van Houwelingen and Ivan and Hilda Tiggelaar and his great grandparents Jo van Houwelingen, John Van Dasselaar and Fijgje Tiggelaar and his aunts and uncles Suzet and Tom Runhaar , Geerhard and Emilie van Houwelingen, Janese and Kent Baartman, Shannon and Daron Ruggi, and Sean and Bernice Tiggelaar.  He will also be missed by his cousins Weston Baartman, Alyssa Baartman, Carter Ruggi, Nathan Runhaar and Feline van Houwelingen.  Visitors may pay their respects to the family at EBENEZER CANADIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 607 Dynes Rd., Burlington on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. where the Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., Rev. G. Nederveen officiating.  Interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery.  The family would like to thank all the staff at McMaster Children’s Hospital in the PICU and 3C, as well as the Complex Care Team for your care and compassion during Owen’s hospital visits.  A special thank you to Dr. Malik and Dr. Lim for their expertise, support and compassion.  Our thanks as well to our church family, extended family, friends and MECP2 “family” for their encouragement and support.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MECP2 Duplication Syndrome 401 Project, www.401project.com as expressions of sympathy.  Please sign the Tribute Wall at kitchingsteepeandludwig.com
