Martin Van EerdMartin G. Van Eerd, of Chatham and formerly of Ridgetown, died peacefully at home, two years after being diagnosed with ALS, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday February 26th, 2013.  Beloved husband of Joanne.  Loving father of David (Wendy) Van Eerd of Duart, Laura Van Eerd (Ron Gold) of Ridgetown, and Carla (Rich) Vanderdrift of Acton.  He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Keith and Victoria Van Eerd and Hayley Vanderdrift.  Dear brother of An Lenssen, Joanne Beretta, Mia Hill, Nelly (Roger) Cunnigham, Anton, Peter, Hubert (Cathy), Martin (Corry), Leo (Mary), and Bill (Norma).  Martin farmed most of his life near Duart and was a member of the National Farmer’s Union.  Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 visiting on Friday March 1st from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 145 Victoria Ave, Chatham, on Saturday March 2nd at 11 a.m. with Father Daniel Bombardier celebrant, visiting from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Cremation has taken place.  Interment St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Chatham.  Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked consider the A.L.S.
