It is with happy memories that our husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Leamington District Memorial Hospital at the age of 97. Beloved husband of his late wife Adriana (September 2009) after 68 years of marriage. Loving father of Gary Van Drunen (Freda), Deep River; Rita Coste (Gary Wigle) and late son-in-law Paul (October 2009), Kingsville; Casey Van Drunen (Glenna), Dunvegan; Willy Zuiderveen (Jake), Essex; George Van Drunen (Hilda), Peterborough. Adored grandfather of 17 grandchildren and proud great grandfather of 22 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Paul Van Drunen, Athens; and survived by 3 sisters and 2 brothers and several nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland. Predeceased by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Arie was a devoted member of Essex Christian Reformed Church since 1952 who enjoyed gardening and duck carving. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 14 Russell Street, Leamington (519-326-2631) Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Service to celebrate Arie’s life will be held at Essex Christian Reformed Church, 276 Talbot Street South, Essex on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10 a.m. Pastor Aaron Thompson officiating. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery to follow. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Essex Christian Reformed Church would be appreciated.
