Peacefully after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer, Arie passed away to join his son Anthony and other members of his family.

He is survived by his wife Corry of 53 years, children Margareth Johansen (Ed), Henry (Adele), predeceased by Anthony (Gail) and Janey Williamson (Korry). Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Krystle, Angela (Neil), Jason (Sarah), Adam, Michael, Stephen, Patrick, Erika, David, Jonathan (Ceri) and Lindy. Also his great grand children Ava, Olivia, Grace and Jude. He will be sadly missed by his family in Holland and many dear friends here in Canada.

Arie arrived in Canada in 1956. He married his sweetheart Corry in 1959 and through the years he worked hard and did his best for his family. He retired in 1994 from General Motors and enjoyed his time traveling from the east coast to the west coast of Canada in his fifth wheel.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, Dr. Moorsom and the chemo/palliative care staff.   To Joan, you hold an extra special place in our hearts, your unending care and devotion to dad and mom will never be forgotten.

Friends are invited to call at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 11 King Street West, Colborne on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Grafton, on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 11:30 a.m.  Interment Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens, Whitby on Friday, December 7.
