On November 1, 2014 at the age of 98 years, Margaret was reunited with Bob (1997) her beloved husband of 62 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters; Barbara Adam (Gene), Gayle Toop (Dave), and Karen Marentette (Bob), her 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren, her siblings Ken Murphy (Isobel), Bill Murphy (Ronnie), Betty St. John (late Russ), sister-in-law Betty Turner (late Stan) and many nieces and nephews. There was a special place in her heart for her god-children Sharlene Peladeau and Sandy Potts. She was predeceased by her son—in-law George Adam (2001), infant sister Stella and Bob’s 8 brothers and sisters. Margaret was born in Dalton-In-Furness, Lancashire, England, coming to Canada at the age of two years with her parents William Murphy Sr. and Evelyn (Roberts) Murphy and sister Stella. She lived much of her life in various cities and towns through-out Ontario and Michigan. Finally she settled permanently in Windsor, ON where she met Bob, married, and together raised their 3 daughters. When her daughters were old enough, she realized her dream of working in the medical field, first as a volunteer, then as a nurses aid, lab clerk and retired as an EKG technician. She then volunteered her services to the Girl Guides of Canada as a Leader; District Commissioner and Commandant of Camp Bosanquet (Forest, Ontario). Mom enjoyed her last 15 years residing at Oak Park Terrace where she engaged in various activities with her new found friends. She was very well cared for by all the staff in this, her last home. We, her children, would like to thank the many people who cared for mom over the years especially Susan, Ellen, Patti and Joanne. A special thanks also goes to the St. Elizabeth Care Givers, who helped mom mornings and evenings over the last 3 years. Mom was an inspiration to all of us. Her life was well lived. If you so desire, donations to Hospice of Windsor or the Make a Wish Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Visiting on Tuesday from 3-5 & 7-9 pm at Families First, 1065 Lauzon Rd., East Windsor, 519-969-5841.
