Thompson, Oscar Joseph of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17th, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 80th year. Husband of Merieth Thompson, and dearly loved father of Edwin Percival Thompson, Paul Alexander Thompson and Alison Patricia Thompson. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Ashley, Nicole and Joshua Thompson. Survived by his nieces, Norma Dolphy Green, and Merva Reddish. Dear brother of Anna Delores Thompson (England), and the late Kenneth Ambrose Thompson, and the late Olive Frances Thompson.Oscar was born in Linstead, Jamaica on September 27th, 1933, the son of the late Sylvester Alexander and Elizabeth Albertha (Dias) Thompson. He has resided in St. Thomas since 1968 where he worked as a welder. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Thomas, and also volunteered as an usher at Holy Angels’ Church for many years.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas, until Monday morning, then to Holy Angels’ Church, where Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Sunday at 4 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
