214022 ThompsonTHOMPSON, Doreen ‘Dori’ Myrtle (nee Johnson) RN Ryerson. Surrounded by her family at home in Peterborough, on Sunday, March 16, 2014., Dori left us much too soon but after a life well lived. Beloved wife of Dr. Alan Thompson for 27 years; loving Mum of Sarah, Erica and Robert; much loved sister of Connie Johnson (Ross Aylesworth), Darlene (Jerry McGrath) and Donna Johnson (Shayne Dark); cherished sister-in-law of Hugh Thompson (Francine), Joy Tutsch (Paul), and Andrea Leeson (Garry).  Greatly missed by many other wonderful family members and friends. She will be best remembered for her kindness, generosity, and inner strength. After surviving her honeymoon cycling in the Swiss Alps, Dori spent many wonderful vacations hiking, cycling, and skiing with her family, spanning six continents. She treasured her summers at Brulé with extended family and friends. Following a successful nursing career, Dori turned her loving attention to her children who treasured her unconditional love and her company, even throughout their teenage years. Friends will be received at the ASHBURNHAM FUNERAL HOME & RECEPTION CENTRE, 840 Armour Road, on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. A celebration of Dori’s life will be held in the Ashburnham Chapel on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.  If desired, condolences to the family, directions to the service or donations to the Crossroads Shelter or Hospice Peterborough would be appreciated and may be made at www.AshburnhamFuneral.ca or by calling 705-740-0444.  We send a heartfelt thank you to Hospice Peterborough, the V.O.N, Dr. Jayabalan, Dr. Beamish and Dr. Ragaz who have been so helpful and kind through this difficult time.
