Thompson, Bill of Kensington Village, London and formerly of St. Thomas and Port Stanley, passed away on Thursday, September 13th, 2012, at his late residence, in 94th year. Dearly loved husband of 71 years of Gertrude (Harvey) Thompson and loved father of Gerald and his wife Karen Thompson of St. Thomas, Sandra Murray of London and Penny and her husband Andy VanLeeuwen of Tillsonburg. Much loved grandfather of Shannon and Kevin Buck, Wade and Elizabeth Thompson, Ian and Marie Murray, Dana and Rob Eckert and Shauna and Steve Hatch. Sadly missed by a number of great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Dearly loved brother of Alice Kett. Dear brother-in-law of Sylvia Harvey, Jennie Ouellette and Mary Martin. Predeceased by a number of brothers and sisters and in-laws.Bill was born in St. Thomas on the 15th of June, 1919, the son of the late William and Hannah Thompson. He was the founder and president of Bill’s Welding Shop and then Thompson Transport. He was a member of the St. Thomas Lodge #44 A.F.A.M. , a life member of Burleigh Preceptory and Palestine Chapter, Mocha Temple Shrine in London. Bill was the past Director of Hi Ro Shrine Clown Unit, St. Thomas, a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, London, and served in the Essex Scottish Regiment during World War II.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas, where funeral service will be held on Monday at 12:00 p.m. Visitation Monday from 11-12 p.m. Private interment in St. Thomas Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Shriners’ Hospitals of Children.
