November 6, 1933 – July 13, 2014

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Guyitt) for almost 59 years. Loving father of Carey Papineau, Randy “Beav” Thiessen (Renée) and Kelly Ellwood (the late Darrell 2011). Loved grandpa of Jennifer (Kris) Klassen, Adam (Shannon) Ellwood, Ian Ellwood (fiancé Christine Scott), Dominique Papineau (Austin Shymanski), Rachelle Papineau, Johanna Thiessen and Great grandpa of Calvin Klassen. Dear brother of Karin Lepp (the late Henry 1990), twin brother Edward (Betty) and predeceased by his parents Peter (1974) and Johanna (1990), brother Peter (1943) and sister Ruth Piper (1998) (Victor 1999). Rudy was born and raised in Kingsville where he resided for 80 years. He was an avid player, coach and fan of baseball and hockey. He retired from H.J. Heinz Company after 35 years in 1989 and enjoyed his retirement while working at the Kingsville Golf Club until 2008. He loved working in his garden and watching his grandchildren play sports. The family would like to thank Dr. Moncur, Gina Gillen and all the devoted staff at Leamington District Memorial Hospital who took such loving care of Rudy. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday July 19 from 1-4 pm at Epworth United Church Memorial Hall, Kingsville, Division St S. In lieu of flowers, donations to Windsor & Essex County Cancer Centre Foundations, Diabetes Association or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
