Tanner, Reta of Barrie, Ontario, formerly of Quebec
TANNER, RETA On Monday, November 18, 2013, Reta Elizabeth Tanner (nee Robertson – Riverfield, Quebec) passed away peacefully at the age of 95. Predeceased by her husband Richard and survived by her children Lorne Tanner and Lorraine Earl (late Bob Earl); Grandchildren Scott & Kelly Tanner, Jeff & Susan Mills, Ryan & Shelly Tanner, Tara & Chris Veach; and Great-Grandchildren Carter Tanner, Cameron & Tyler Mills, Emily Tanner, John, Mae & Ben Veach. Reta’s memory will survive in numerous ways: the quilts she created for her children, grandchildren and close friends, her dedication to her church, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (Barrie) and all the “Izzy dolls” that brought happiness to so many children in Afghanistan and the Dominican Republic. Her proudest moment in the past few years was the presentation of the “Leaf of Inspiration” dedicated to her at the North Bay Waterfront Festival in August 2012. Visitation is 1 hr. prior to memorial service to be held Friday, November 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 47 Owen Street, Barrie, Ontario. Reception to follow at St. Andrew’s Church. Dr. Rev. Rick Horst officiating. Cremation has taken place. Although Reta loved flowers, donations to the WMS at St. Andrew’s Church or Grove Park Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks to all her dear friends who visited her, Dr. McTurk and the wonderful staff at Grove Park Home.
