At Bluewater Health in Sarnia on Friday, September 28, 2012.  BLOSS TANNER, of Petrolia, was in his 80th year.  He is survived by his loving wife H. Anne (nee Tobias), his children Bob and Gail Tanner of Petrolia, Patti and Wayne Newman of Oil Springs, Stephen and Debbie Tanner of Caledon, and the late Richard Tanner and his wife Jennifer of Arthur.  Papa Bloss will also be missed by his grandchildren Mary and Carol Tanner, Ryan, Brad, and Nick Newman, Kyle, Jamie, Wesley, and Matthew Tanner, and Ashley and Zack Tanner.  Bloss was the brother of Lee Tanner, Phyllis Jackson, Elaine Burt, Wilda Todd, Inez McLean, Bonnie Soulard, and Kay Freer and the late Donna Anderson, Lyle Tanner, Ruby Goslin, and Earl Tanner and was a brother-in-law to Shirley Marriott.   Bloss was retired from Imperial Oil in Sarnia.  He was an avid card…player, enjoyed camping, and spending time with and playing practical jokes on his friends.  Visitors will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Harvey Osborne of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Petrolia officiating.  Interment will follow in Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia.  As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made by cheque to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario ( or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.  Memories, condolences, and pictures may be shared on-line at
