SYMS, Adrian Francis Sr. – New Waterford / Sydney
It is with broken hearts that we, the family announce the passing of Adrian Francis Syms, 71 on Wednesday, February 14, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in New Waterford, Adrian was the son of the late Benny and Alice (Williams) Syms. Adrian also was known as ‘Charlie Brown’ had many hobbies like painting, artwork and carving. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his early years. He was a great storyteller and he worked for Devco at several mines until his retirement.
Adrian is survived by his children, Adrian Francis Jr. (Monica) and Corina (Billy); fiancé, Diane; siblings, Louie (Hazel), Patrick (Heather), David (Lynda), Harvey (Sheila) and Dolly; grandchildren, Rory, Carter, Auvney and Connor; four-legged companion, Sandy and several nieces and nephews as well as his good friend and neighbor, Matthew, who was always there for him. Besides his parents, Adrian was predeceased by his first wife, Irene Tucker; second wife, Shirley Kozera; siblings, Benny, Eddy and George. Visitation and memorial service for the late Adrian Syms will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street). A gathering of family and friend will take place from Noon to 2:00 P.M. with the service to follow at 2:00 P.M. in the All Faith Chapel with Archdeacon Brenda Drake officiating. A light luncheon will follow in the funeral home reception area. Interment will take place in St. Michael Cemetery, Scotchtown at a later date. Donations in memory of Adrian may be made to the Lung Foundation/Association. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
