SYER; Ruby of the Shiloh Community, Enniskillen Township
Suddenly, at Bluewater Health, Sarnia on Thursday, June 6, 2013. RUBY EDNA SYER (nee Walker), 82 years, of the Shiloh Community, Enniskillen Township, with her family by her side. Loving wife and best friend to Irvine for 62 years. Ruby will be greatly missed by her children Kay and John Allison, Doug and Diane Syer, Cindy Syer and Ken McNally, Terry and Cathy Syer, and Joanne and Chris Power. Remembered with love by her grandchildren Corey Allison, Kelly (Steve) Boase, Adam (Jasmine) Allison, Dale Syer, Devon (Andrew) Howitt, Derek (Kelsey Terpstra) Syer, Denise Syer, Joey Syer, Carlyn McNally, Shayna McNally, Felicia Syer, Emily Syer, Ethan Power, Brooke Power, and her three great grandchildren Harly, Scarlett, and Annabel Ruby. She is survived by her sister-in-law Donna Cook (Syer) and was predeceased by her parents Roy and Edna Walker and siblings Jean Brown, Alice Cox, Norman Walker, Vernon Walker, and Dorothy Hastie. Ruby was an active and lifelong member of Shiloh-Inwood United Church, where she was a U.C.W. Member, a Sunday School Teacher, organist and co-founder of Shiloh-Inwood Christmas Musical. An avid gardener, Ruby received the Petrolia Fall Fair flower Queen title multiple times. She embraced farm life and worked alongside her husband their entire married life. Ruby’s greatest passion in life was her family. She loved large family gatherings and holding her new born grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitors will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia where a funeral service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Susan Woodhouse officiating. Interment in Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Shiloh-Inwood United Church.
