Peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, William Delmer Binks, formerly of Rodney, passed away at Bobier Villa, Dutton, at the age of 90.  Predeceased by his beloved wife Joan (née Woolmer) in 1995.  Loving father of Alison McNulty, Sally Binks, Hilary Binks, Stella Drenth and Elizabeth Binks.  Cherished grandfather of Christopher McNulty, Nicholas Ritchie, Jeremy Ritchie, Rebecca Drenth and Stephen Drenth.  Great-grandfather of Zachary Ritchie.  Predeceased by his sisters, Lorene Carroll and Betty Bobier.  Delmer grew up in the last original log house in the area and was a life long resident of West Elgin.  He worked locally for the Department of Highways.  Following retirement, Delmer dabbled in goat farming and collected and sold antique tractors.    Relatives and friends will be received at DENNING’S OF WEST LORNE, 202 Main Street, West Lorne (519-785-0810) on Saturday, December 2nd from 1-3 p.m. where the Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 2 p.m.  Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.  Memorial donations to the Parkinson’s or Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.

KRITER: David H., of Rodney

On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Middlesex Terrace, Delaware, David Howard Kriter, of Rodney, passed away at the age of 77.  Predeceased by his wife Jacqueline (née Weldon) in 2008.  Loving father and grandfather of David B. Kriter (Tamara) and children; Tiffany and Julie, Stephen Kriter (Frances) and children; Evelyn and Andrew, John Giffels (Gail), Judi Tomsons, Jeff Giffels (Lyn) and Brenda MacTavish (John David) and their families.  Together, David and Jacqueline shared 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  Predeceased by his daughter, Leagh Ellen (1966), brother, Robert Kriter (2015) and by his parents, Edith (née Hux) and Howard Kriter and step-mother Magda (née Karl).  David was a member of the West Elgin Masonic Lodge No. 386 A.F. & A.M., Royal Canadian Legion Br. 525, Rodney and past patron of Order of the Eastern Star, Adah Chapter No. 276, Wallacetown.  David loved animals and was a passionate football and baseball fan.  Satisfied with living a simple life, David enjoyed socializing at the coffee shop, lending a helping hand and going on crop tours to share local history.  Above all, his greatest value was his family.  The Funeral Service will be held at DENNING’S OF RODNEY, 212 Furnival Road, Rodney (519-785-0810) on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11 a.m.  Visitation will precede the Service for one hour (10-11 a.m.).  Interment in Churchville Evangelical Cemetery.  Memorial donations to Order of the Eastern Star, Adah Chapter No. 276, Wallacetown or the West Elgin Masonic Lodge No. 386 by cheque would be appreciated by the family.

RIEGER, Blake A., of R.R.1, Port Stanley, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, in his 75th year.  Beloved husband of Carol (née Stinson) Rieger.  Dearly loved father of Brian Rieger (Tammy), and Craig Rieger (Marieke), all of Shedden.  Cherished grandfather of Jeff, Josh and Brad Rieger.  Dear brother of Ross Rieger (Carole), Ray Rieger (Linda), all of R.R.1, Port Stanley, and Sally Butcher (Michael) of London.  Also survived by many in-laws, several aunts and uncles, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.  Born in Leamington, ON, April 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Carl and Edna (née White) Rieger.  Blake farmed and also formerly worked at Essex Wire/United Technologies, St. Thomas and Tecumseh Products, Aylmer.  A private family funeral service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).  Interment in Hunter Cemetery, Southwold Twp.  Memorial donations to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada will be gratefully acknowledged.

BARNUM, Judith “Judy” (née Alexander), of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, in her 78th year.  Beloved wife of Stewart A. Barnum.  Dearly loved mother of Vicki-Lynn Keil (Tim) of Listowel, and Jamie Barnum (Kellie) of Parkhill.  Cherished grandmother of Josh Keil (Lainie Dietz), and Nathan Keil.  Also fondly remembered by in-laws, Patricia and Frank Hough of Union, and their family.  Judy was born on April 17, 1940 in St. Thomas, ON.  She was the daughter of the late Donald W. McCARTHY, TERRI – At St. Joseph’s Hospice on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, Helen Theresa “Terri” McCarthy, age 71 of Sarnia passed away. She was the dear mother to Michael Shepley (Jinna Zheng), grandmother to Angela, sister of Tim McCarthy and committed and loyal friend to many with whom she developed long lasting and caring relationships. She was predeceased by her parents TJ (1987) and Helen (1996). She will also be missed by her two cats, Peaches and Gabby. She was a passionate animal lover, ensuring that no stray cat ever went hungry. She worked in Sarnia for many years in the retail industry and as a personal support worker and was also an avid art lover. The family would like to extend their greatest appreciation to the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia for the gentle, compassionate and professional care they extended to her. Cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with the family at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia) Friday, December 1, 2017 between the hours of 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 at 1:30 pm. Interment of her ashes will be held on Monday, December 4th, 10:30 am at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. VOGAN, Mrs. Margaret S. (née Van Horne) (Austin), of St. Thomas, passed away at Caressant Care on Mary Bucke on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, in her 101st year.  Beloved wife of the late Frederick W. Austin (1952) and the late Grenville H. Vogan (1995) (retired principal of Elmdale Public School, St. Thomas).  She is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.  Special loving friends, John and Gail Irvine of Cambridge will especially miss Margaret, as will Pat Mellor and family of St. Thomas.  Born in St. Thomas, ON, May 14, 1917, she was the youngest daughter of the late William and Edith (née Allan) Van Horne, and the sister of the late Jean F. Van Horne, late Melvin J. Van Horne (late Pearl), and the late Clive H. Van Horne (late Eleanor).  A graduate of the London Normal School, Margaret taught for 35 years at rural schools in Elgin County, and at Elmdale and Wellington in St. Thomas, retiring from New Sarum in 1973.  Margaret and her husband Gren enjoyed many years of travel to the English Isles, Western Europe and throughout North America.  She was a long-time member of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas, where she was a valued member of the choir for over 80 years, serving in a variety of administration positions.  The funeral and committal service will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday, December 1st at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be made privately in Union Cemetery.  Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon, November 30th from 2:00-4:00 p.m.  Flowers respectfully declined.  Memorial donations to Knox Presbyterian Church or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.

Dearly loved husband of Shirley [Leitch] Longhurst for 50 years. Brother of Gordon [Brenda] of Talbotville. Brother-in-Law of Bill Leitch of Lawrence Station and Galea Lunn of Fingal. Also survived by his nieces and nephews.. Predeceased by his parents Lester and Mary [Harris] Longhurst. Jim farmed with his father and brother at Talbotville and Lawrence Station. Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 24, 2017.  Johann Adam “John” Zimmermann of Strathroy at the age 91.  Predeceased by his wife Elsa (Gotthardt) in 2000 and his partner Anna Kohlruss (2017).

Lovingly remembered by his sons John (Mary) and Anthony (Tina) Zimmermann.  Dear grandfather of Heidi Wakem (Jason), Kristy (Gavin), Anthony (Megan), Amanda, Michelle and John and great grandfather of Lilly and Jack.

Survived by his brother Adam and sister Ottilia Fritz.  Predeceased by his parents Johann (1945) and Magdalena (1993), brother Siegfried (1944) and sister Therisia (1924).

John and Elsa left Bremer Haven, Germany and arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia on January 18, 1950.  Their sponsorship brought them to Ontario where they settled in Mount Brydges before coming to Strathroy where he became a well respected greenhouse propagator.

Visitation will take place at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Thursday, November 30th, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm where a funeral service will take place on Friday at 11 am.  Interment Strathroy cemetery.

COX, Norma (née Canning), of St. Thomas, formerly of Frome, passed away at Caressant Care on Mary Bucke on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, in her 94th year.  Wife of the late Ron Cox (1992).  Mother of Jim Cox (Jane) of Frome, and the late Ted Cox (1965).  Grandmother of the late Christopher E. “Chris” Cox (2014).  Sister of Norman Canning (Gerry) of St. Thomas, and the late Gertrude Canning (1995).  Also remembered by in-laws, Hilliard and Marion Willson of St. Thomas, and Patricia Scott of London, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.  Born in St. Thomas, ON, July 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Flossie (née Grogan) Canning.  Norma was an elementary school teacher for 35 years, retiring in 1979.  She was a member of Frome United Church and the U.C.W., the Retired Teachers of Ontario- Elgin District, and the former Tonti Chapter, IODE, St. Thomas.  The funeral and committal service will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Saturday, November 25th at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be made privately in Elmdale Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the funeral service.  Flowers respectfully declined.  Memorial donations to Cystic Fibrosis Canada or the Canadian Diabetes Association will be gratefully acknowledged.

Unexpectedly while living the dash on Saturday, November 11th, 2017. Jessica Mollard (nee Burgess) of Ailsa Craig. Jessica is survived by her loving husband Travis and by her mother Anita Burgess of London. Jessica is loved dearly by her siblings Jennifer (Ryan) Morley, Jeremy Burgess (Jill Knight), father-in-law Jeff (Sue) Mollard, mother-in-law Bev Mollard (Ron Pronchuk) and brother-in-law Brandon (Sarah) Mollard and their son Benjamin. Jessica is survived by Oma Maria (+Bas) Bos and Grandpa and Grandma Eric and Betty Ann Mollard. Predeceased by grandparents John and Hilda Semple. Jessica will also be missed by all of her loving extended family and friends. Father, Dan Burgess. Joos (2009).  Dear mother of Debra Barrett (Steve) of St. Thomas, Stephen P. Joos (Michelle) of Georgian Bluffs, and Brian A. Joos (Corrinne Voogt) of St. Thomas.  Loved sister of Ina Newham (Calvin), Phillip Zellmann (Patricia), all of St. Thomas, late Barbera Tenhoeve, and the late Adam Zellmann.  Also survived by two sisters-in-law, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Born in Barendrecht, The Netherlands on June 6, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Aart and Jozina (née Kanters) Zellmann.  Jennie came to Canada in 1952, and to St. Thomas in 1963.  She was a member of Holy Angels’ Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas, and the Catholic Women’s League.  Jennie was a retired employee of Essex Wire, St. Thomas.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160on Wednesday evening, November 15th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. (Prayers at 8:30 p.m.). Jacobs (Nov. 6, 2001).  She is survived by several nieces and nephews in Ontario and British Columbia.  Phyllis was the last surviving member of her own immediate family, having been predeceased by a sister, Irene Wiley, and by brothers, Russell Rockey, Douglas Rockey, and (infant) Harold Rockey.  Born in Mount Salem, Ontario, April 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Ethel (née Holmes) Rockey.  Phyllis resided all of her life in St. Thomas and Aylmer area.  She was a retired payroll and accounting clerk.  Phyllis was a member of Centre Street Baptist Church, St. Thomas.  In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.  Private interment in Aylmer Cemetery. On Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Victoria Hospital, London, Diana Lynne Campbell of Rodney, passed away at the age of 67.  Beloved wife of Peter Johnson.  Loving mother of Stephanie (Robert Ganhadeiro) and Lisa (Norm Gatt).  Cherished grandmother of Ashley, Taylor and Nolan.  She will be remembered by her close sister Debbie (Wayne) Timperly.  Survived by her nieces, nephews and friends. Beloved father of Cindy McIntyre and husband Peter Loveridge Ottawa. Partner of Judy Jewell and her family Kim Jewell and Mark Bodzasi, Alexander, Matt Jewell. Brother of Allan and Kim McIntyre and their family Greg and Ashley McIntyre, Kaylee, Kyle, Vickie McIntyre and Jon Hill. Brother of Heather and Jon Collard and their family Nicole Collard and Sean Sandercott, Nolan Collard and Jill Utter. Beloved son of the late Laurence [1981] and Marion [2008] [Lunn] McIntyre. Suddenly yet peacefully with her family at her side at Victoria Hospital, London on Saturday, November 4, 2017.  Anne Ossel (Van Den Biggelaar) of Rodney at the age of 75.  Lovingly remembered by her fiancé Frank Machan, her daughters Mary Anne Kozdras, Jane Van Den Biggelaar (Pete), Diane Mes (Ian) and Audrey Stutt (Steve), her grand children Christa, Katelyn, Michelle, Tristan, Keanna, Darren, Cassie, Ashley and Ethan.  Dearly missed by Frank’s family; Stephanie (Donato) and Jennifer and their children; Bianca, Dario and Emily.  Dear sister of Nellie (John), Mia (John) and Corrie and sisters in law; Kathy and Ellie.  Survived by step-sons Jerry and Randy.

Predeceased by her husbands Ed Van Den Biggelaar (1977) and Harry Ossel (2006) and her brothers Jim (2011) and Bernard (1998).

Visitation will be held at ALL SAINTS CHURCH, 124 Front St., Strathroy on Tuesday, November 7th, 2017 from 6 – 8 pm where Mass will take place on Wednesday at 11 am.  Father Tom Blondin celebrant.  Interment All Saints cemetery.

GOODHUE, Charles A., of R.R.7, Aylmer, passed away at the Elgin Manor, R.R.1, St. Thomas on Friday, November 3, 2017, in his 94th year.  Beloved husband of the late Jean (née Cooke) Goodhue (2015).  Dearly loved father of Kenneth Goodhue (Peggy) of R.R.8, St. Thomas, late Ralph J. Goodhue (2002) (Laurie of R.R.3, St. Thomas), and the late Joyce Goodhue (2013).  Brother of the late George Goodhue (late Hazel), late Helen Cummings (late Alf), late Harold Goodhue (Gladys of St. Thomas), late Marion Grant (late George), and the late Dorothy McCormick (Tom of Sarnia). September 30th, 1920 – October 23rd, 2017
Edward (Ted) Howard, loving husband of the late Wilma (Dyer) both of Toronto, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2017 at Victoria Manor in Lindsay, Ontario. Ted had an enormous love of family. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and tennis, had a keen interest in history and was an avid reader. Ted lived life to the fullest, making a positive impact on everyone in his life. Intelligence, determination and a wonderful sense of humour were his gifts which he used generously to touch everyone’s hearts. He will be missed. Loving father of Terry (the late Bonnie nee Thornhill), Rachel (Michael B.) and Lisa (Michael F.) and the late Maureen. Special grandpa of Kent, Daphne, Tracey, Erin, Mikaela and Melissa. Lovingly remembered by his great grandchildren Zachary, Cassandra and Kallista; Thomas and Daniel; Rayden and Declan. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Eileen (Palliser) Howard, and his brother Todd. Fondly remembered by niece Jean and nephew Alan and their families. In keeping with Ted’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a future date to be announced. Private Interment at Pine Hills Cemetery. Mizon.  Dearly loved mother of Paul Mizon (Tammy) and Joe Mizon (Carrie), all of St. Thomas, Shawn Kokko (Shannon) of BC, and Tabatha Mizon (Tyler), of St. Thomas.  Loving daughter of Ronald Hillman and the late Ruth (née Axson) Hillman (2016).  Dear sister of Jacqueline Swindall (Steven), Judy Brown (Daniel), Jan Hillman, Robert Hillman (Mary-Ellen), and Raymond Hillman (Elaine).  Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  Joanne was born in St. Thomas, ON, July 25, 1958.
