CRAIG, NOLA – It is with sadness that we announce the passing, on Monday, August 28, 2017, of Nola Annabel (Taylor) Craig, age 96.  Nola was the loving wife of the late Earl Gordon Craig (1999) and amazing Mom to Brad (Annette) of Coquitlam, B.C. and Janet Young (Barry) of Petrolia.  She will be missed by her grandchildren Cheryl and Michael (Anita) and great grandchildren Nathan, Brandon and Nikolina in B.C.  Mom will be fondly remembered by family in the Goderich, Clinton and Blyth area.  We would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to the wonderful people at Fiddick’s Nursing Home in Petrolia who took care of Mom with such compassion, kindness and love. Lloyd McLaughlin – formerly of Listowel, passed away peacefully at Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels on Wednesday August 23, 2017 at the age of 87. Lloyd enjoyed spending time with his family at the cottage and fixing old cars.

Beloved husband of Marg (Bell) McLaughlin with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage on August 9th.  Loving father of Ron and Lois and Randy and Wendy. Special grandpa of Trisha and Clint, Curtis and Sandi, Ryan, Becky, and Drew.  Poppa of Reed, Jesa, Jaxon, Camdyn, Destiny, Madison, Parker and Violet.  Brother of Harold McLaughlin. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Edith (Moore) McLaughlin, granddaughter Rhonda Lee in infancy, sister Elva Michel, brother-in-law Clair Michel and sister-in-law Jean McLaughlin.

Leslie James “Les” Longmire of Teeswater, passed away suddenly at Wingham & District Hospital on Saturday, August 19th, 2017, at the age of 59.

Beloved husband of Rosemarie “Rose” Longmire (née Nielissen).

Loving father of Penny Nielissen (Mike Walsh) of London, Jennifer Nielissen (Tim Canning) of Walkerton, James Nielissen of Hanover and Robynn Longmire (Dave Carroll) of Teeswater.

Missed by his grandchildren, Arianna, Cooper, Brandon, Taylor, Essence, Eliyzhaa, Gabby and Rosie.

Dorothy Isabel MacKenzie (née Graham) of Listowel and formerly of Culross Township, passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side on Wednesday, August 16th, 2017 in her 99th year.

Beloved wife of the late Brock MacKenzie (1957).

Dear mother of John MacKenzie (Carol) of Kitchener, Dorla Cassidy (Graeme) of Teeswater, Rennae Taylor (Malcolm) of Auckland, New Zealand, Allan MacKenzie (Heather) of Windsor and Mary Kay MacKenzie of Listowel.

Missed by her 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was the last surviving member of her family being predeceased by her parents Angus and Betsy (née McMurchy) Graham, brothers Rennie Graham and Allan Graham (Elsie) and sisters, Margaret McInnes (Gordon), Mary Snowe (James), Anna Robinson (Hawkes) and Jean Lowndes (John).

Visitation will be held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Missed by daughter-in-law Kathryn Brindley of Kinloss, 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Fondly remembered by her sister Marie Sherran (James), brother Tom Miller (Marj) all of Woodstock, sisters-in-law Largret McInnes of Kincardine and Donelda Miller of Walkerton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harvey Clarke – of Atwood passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday August 14, 2017 at the age of 83. Harvey was a former 4H leader and square dance caller.  He enjoyed coaching hockey and square dancing.

Beloved husband of Marg (Conley) Clarke whom he married in 1958.  Loving father of Shirley and Alan Baker and their children Thomas (Nicole), Sara (Brian), Emily (Cody), and Isaac (Tasha); Murray and Sharon Clarke and their children Torie (Derek), Alanis (Ryan) and Austin; Brian Clarke and Jackie Birk; Tracy Courtney and her children Jillian (Graeme), Scott (Jess) and Tina; Paul and Tanya Clarke and their children Travis, Matthew and Samuel.  Special Great Gramps of Bexlie.  Brother of Vivien Laidlaw, Cecil Clarke (Barb), Ruth Kirkpatrick, Linda Clark.  Fondly remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Wilma and Doug Rathwell, Doug and Virginia Conley, many nieces and nephews and Dave Courtney.

Roberta Rocher – passed away peacefully at her residence in Caressant Care Nursing Home, Listowel on Tuesday June 13, 2017 at the age of 89.

Beloved wife of the late Calvin Rocher who predeceased her in 1992.  Step-mother of Barb Argue, and Ross and Nora Rocher.  Step-grandmother of Scott, Catherine and their families.  Dear sister of Elma Cooke.  Fondly remembered by Lenore Moser and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Henry and Ellen (Woods) Dale, sister Catherine and brother Carl.

STEWART (LORD) – Mary Teresa (nee Belcher) of Mount Hope Long Term Care of St Joseph’s Health Care London and formerly of Gladstone, Crediton and St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at her late residence on Tuesday May 23rd, 2017 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Robert Charles Lord and the late Rev James Stewart. Dearly loved mother of Anne Uhlmann (Peter) of Dutton, Theresa Forsey (Robert) of Newfoundland, Susan Jewczy of Waterloo, Christopher Lord (Sam) of St Thomas, Richard (Dick) Lord (Deb) of Crediton, Philip Lord (Connie) of Birmingham, England and Andrew Lord (Harriet) of Greenville SC. Cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings, Alice Louwry, Harriet (Jewy) Kingsnorth, Charles Belcher, twin Marian Crosby, Rose Greig and Patricia Lord. Mary was born in England on December 6, 1922, daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Fields) Belcher. Mary served during World War II with the British Airforce before starting her own family, raising 4 children born in England, then immigrating to Canada to add another 3 children. Mary was a former member of Gladstone Baptist, Emmanuel Baptist of Exeter and then Eastwood Baptist of St Thomas. Funeral services to celebrate Mary’s life were held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, St. Thomas at 1:00pm on Saturday May 27th, 2017. Private interment in Dorchester Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations requested by Mary to Eastwood Baptist Church of St Thomas or the Canadian Bible Society. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be announced for a later date.

RODGERS, Mrs. Betty (née Charlton), of Caressant Care on Mary Bucke, St. Thomas, formerly of Lake Line and Kettle Creek Villa, Port Stanley, passed away at her residence on Friday, May 26, 2017, in her 91st year.  Beloved wife of the late Howard W. Rodgers (1998).  Dearly loved mother of Glenn Rodgers (Colleen), Stan Rodgers (late Jacqueline), all of R.R.#1, Port Stanley, and Sharon Burgess (Carl) of London.  Cherished grandmother of Jeremy Rodgers (Patricia) of R.R.#1, Port Stanley, David Rodgers (Wendy) of Toronto, Eric Rodgers (Simone) of St. Thomas, Melissa Bainbridge (Steve) of Wallacetown, Sandra Latour (Phil) of Noelville, and Carrie Bubel (Jason) of Fingal.  Proud great grandmother of Emma, Owen, Nolan, Joel, Blake, Tyler, Kyle, Reese, Linkin, Devon, Sophia, Isabel, and Caroline.  Dear sister of Helen Bagg of Stratford, late Vera Hardman, late Myles Charlton, late Gertrude Rolling, and the late Pearl Matthews. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Born in St. Thomas on May 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Lily (née Coombs) Charlton.  Betty assisted her husband Howard in operating the family farm.  She was a member of Port Stanley United Church, where she was a member of the U.C.W. Betty was a member of the Boxall Women’s Institute, and a former volunteer at the Elgin County Museum.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Monday, May 29th from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 30th at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in Union Cemetery. Marion Krugel – of Listowel passed away surrounded by the love of her family at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Saturday April 29, 2017 at the age of 76. Marion was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she had volunteered her time in various roles.  She volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society, North Perth Hospice and the VON as a former leader of the exercise program in Listowel and Monkton.  Marion enjoyed travelling, loved the outdoors, gardening, painting and photography.

Fondly remembered by her siblings Rose Marie Wright (Burlington), Verna (Alfred) Young (Mitchell) and John Krugel (Listowel).  Dearly missed by her special nephew Bill (Cheryl) Young, great nephew Lucas, great nieces Anita and Catharine Young all of Monkton and loving Aunt Marjorie Kaufman (Listowel).  Also survived by her nieces Sandra (Vic) Farrow, Darlene Kosonic, Joanne Young, Yvonne Yarker, Carol Young and great nieces and nephews Donald, Julia, Stephon, Jeremy and Rebecca.

Predeceased by her parents John and Dorothy (Illman) Krugel and brother-in-law Ron Wright.

ROCK, Mark H. of Atwood

 Rock, Mark H. – of Atwood, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday April 22, 2017 at the age of 65. Mark was an organ donor who was able to give the gift of life to others.  He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Listowel.  Mark enjoyed talking to anyone and sharing his faith with them and was always seen wearing a cowboy hat.  He worked hard, participated in mission projects in Bolivia and also enjoyed travelling with Kathy especially to Tennessee.

Cherished and dearly loved husband of Kathy (McCallum) Rock whom he married in 1975. Loving father of Michelle Vanlochem (Marcel), Amanda Rock, Naomi Rock and April Rock.  Cherished grandpa of Eliana, Tobias, Myla and Zemirah.  Brother and brother-in-law of Joel (Marilyn), Marg Rock and Barbara Rock.  Fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Margaret McCallum, brother-in-law Jim McCallum, Rebecca Rock, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by his parents John and Myrn (Diehl) Rock, brothers Raymond, Donald, and John and father-in-law Jim McCallum.

Betty Elma Voisin (née Blackwell) formerly of Teeswater and Formosa, passed away at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Thursday, April 13th, 2017 in her 86th year.

Beloved wife of the late Magnus “Mac” Voisin who predeceased her on February 28th, 2015.

Dear mother of John Voisin (Susan) of Formosa, Mary Lou Montgomery (Dave) of Teeswater, Garry Voisin (Kathy) of Barrie, Calvin Voisin (Betty) of Hanover, Steven Voisin (Vicki) of Teeswater, Richard Voisin (Cathy) of Walkerton and Bradley Voisin (Stephanie) of Ottawa.

Sadly missed by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.

Berniece McEwen – of Route 3 Monkton, passed away surrounded by the love of her family, at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday April 4, 2017 at the age of 78. Berniece was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Monkton.  She enjoyed knitting and reading and was a Monkton Wildcat, Monkton Muskrats, Toronto Maple Leaf and Toronto Blue Jay fan.  She worked for many years at the former Mary’s Truck Stop in Monkton.  Berniece lovingly supported her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in whatever endeavor they undertook.

Beloved wife of Doug McEwen whom she married in 1958.  Loving mother of Brian, Shirley Verhoeve (Rob), Janice Stahlke (Greg), Dennis (Mary Lynn), Colleen McEwen.  Special grandma of Brianne (Travis), Heather (Ryan), Jason (Nicci), Janelle (Jordan), Kristen, Taylor, Erin, Quintin (Rachel), Kyla, Brooklynn and great grandma of Everly, Carson, Brady, Harper, Dylan, Mckenna and Willa.  Cherished daughter of Olive (Osborn) and the late Edwin Hoppenrath.  Dear sister of Doris McLean (Ron) and Roger Hoppenrath (Angie) and sister-in-law of Marie Brohart (Vern), Joyce McLaughlin, Roy McEwen (Joan) and Marj McEwen.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Beloved husband of Joan Meyer (née Kuntz) of Teeswater.

Dear father of Judy Gowland (Jim) of Culross Township, Nancy Walters (Mark) of Strathroy, Larry Meyer (Michelle) of Teeswater and Tim Meyer (Deb) of Culross Township.

Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Jamie Gowland (Marcie), Jake Gowland (Alley), Andrea Cordes (Josh), Tiara Gowland (Mark), Holly Hanna (Matt), Shannon Schiestel (Rob), Tori Walters (Steve), Jordine Meyer (Andrew), Nash and Tanner Meyer and Craig and Alli Meyer and 5 great-grandchildren, Becksen, Cameron, Dawson, Leo and Natalie.

Fondly remembered by siblings, Jim Meyer (Anna) of Toronto, Louise Ormond of Hamilton and brother-in-law Ed Klick of Burlington.

Also survived by members of the Kuntz family and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with Knights of Columbus Service at 8:45 p.m. followed by Vigil Prayers at 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Teeswater on Friday, March 31st, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Father Michael Anderson as celebrant.

Trevor Schneider of Mildmay, passed away with family by his side, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton on Saturday, March 25th, 2017 at the age of 47.

Beloved husband and best friend of Jennifer Schneider (née Haelzle).

Loving father of Derek and Amber Schneider.

Cherished son of Gary and Carol Schneider.

Missed by his siblings, Tracy Williams (John), Marcia McGilveary (Steve) and Colin Schneider (Carolyn).

Fondly remembered by his father and mother-in law Bob and Judy Haelzle, sisters-in-law Sherry Weiler (Al), Brenda Haelzle, brother-in-law Rob Haelzle and grandmother-in-law Anna Schiestel.

Visitation will take place at the Mildmay Carrick Recreation Complex on Wednesday from 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Trevor’s life will be conducted from the Mildmay Carrick Recreation Complex on Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., with Pastors Ed Bastian and Elina Salonen officiating.

Ralph Peter Weishar of Brucelea Haven, Walkerton, formerly of Teeswater and Culross Township, passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, March 21st, 2017, two days short of his 97th birthday.

Born in Carrick Township on March 23rd, 1920 to the late Andrew and Margaret (née Schumacher) Weishar.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Rose (née Reinhart) in 1989.

Father and father-in-law of Reg (deceased 1996) (Donna) of Teeswater, Andrew (Doris) of Gowanstown, Ted of Teeswater, Mary Lou Kretz of Listowel, Allan (MaryAnn) of Barrie, Anita Stothers (Ron) of Ayr, Ralph (deceased 2007) (Karen) of Stratford, Frank (Marlene) of Mildmay, Joe (Brenda) of Listowel, Merv (Brigitte) of Chatham, Dan (Liz) of Wroxeter, Jeanette (Paul) Wilke of Harrisburg Pennsylvania, Paul (Joanne) of Listowel, Karen Ruetz (Ed) of Hanover , Dave (Gail) of Teeswater, Gary (Joanne) of Bluevale, Steve of Durham, Ray (Cheryl) of Kitchener, and Darrel (Jan) of Teeswater.

Survived by 50 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by two grandsons, Kenny Weishar and Dean Weishar, son–in-law Conrad Kretz, great-grandson Tyler Dietz, brother Ray Weishar and sister Mary Beninger (Frank).

George Smith – formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Listowel on Sunday March 12, 2017 at the age of 83. George was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church where he had served as Elder.  He was a Charter/Life member of the Atwood Lions Club and a recipient of the Lions Club International Melvin Jones Fellowship, the foundations highest honor in recognition of his commitment to humanitarian work.  He enjoyed horse racing, playing Lost Heir with his Atwood friends, NCO dancing and when living in Atwood, walking his poodles with his neighbor Jack Peebles.

Beloved husband of Lillian (Pehlke) Smith with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.  Loving father of Kevin (Julia), Cheryl Dominski (Andrzej), Ted (Cara) and Sean (Kate).  Special grandpa of Mia, Michael (Charisse), Julianne, Travis, Kelsey, Jackson, Quinn, Emily, and Matthew.  Fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Joan Pehlke and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Elgin and Hellen (Lochhead) Smith, infant son Brian, sisters Marian Dignard (Harry) and Ruth Gillespie (Nayland).

Loving mother of Marlene Vanesse (Gerald) of Thamesville, Madelyn Moore (Robert) of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Golda Wilson (Richard) of St. Marys and Joyce Roberts (Scott) of Orange Park, Florida.

Sadly missed by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Survived by her brother, David Keith (Ellen) of Belmore, brother-in-law Austin Loree of Lucknow and sisters-in-law Margaret Keith of Goderich and Eleanor Keith of Markham.

Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

Margaret Doig – of Listowel, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday March 7, 2017 at the age of 91. Margaret enjoyed knitting, doing puzzles and spending time with her family.

Debbie Purcell – of Newton, passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital with her husband by her side on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at the age of 57. Debbie joins her mother Barbara Nafziger who predeceased her eight days ago on February 13th.  She was a thrift store enthusiast and enjoyed gardening and walking her dog.  Debbie loved the times she spent baking, cooking and talking on the telephone with her family.

Beloved wife of Doug Purcell whom she married in 1977.  Loving mother and grandmother of Cory and Melissa and their children Cheyenne, Trevor, Caroline and Caitlyn; Natashia and Mike Cassel and their children Makayla, Dakota and Brielle; Devin and Tessa and their children Jack, Ruby and Grace.  Dear sister of Connie Cassel (Steve), Frances Royal (Joe), Paul Nafziger (Jen), Calvin Nafziger (Heidi).  Cherished daughter of John and the late Barbara (Herrfort) (2017) Nafziger.  Fondly remembered by the extended Purcell family and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

NAFZIGER, Barbara – of Newton passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener on Monday February 13, 2017 at the age of 78. Barb enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and making crafts which she exhibited at numerous fall fairs.  She was a yard sale enthusiast and loved spending time playing games with her family.

Beloved wife of John Nafziger whom she married in 1959.  Loving mother of Connie Cassel (Steve), Debbie Purcell (Doug), Frances Royal (Joe), Paul (Jen), and Calvin (Heidi).  Special grandma of Shane, Dean (Erin), Cory (Melissa), Natashia (Mike), Devin (Tessa), Sabrina (James), Jordan (Melissa), Michael, Samantha (Matthew), Jessica, Rachel and great grandma of 14.  Remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Marlene Herrfort, Bernice Herrfort, Edna Tigani, Robert Nafziger (Rose), Jake Nafziger (Sharon), Donald Nafziger, Bill Nafziger (Judy) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barb was the last surviving member of her family being predeceased by her parents Henry and Frances (Zehr) Herrfort, sister Mildred Roes (David), and brothers William (in infancy), Sam, Allan and Melvin.

In keeping with Barb’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.  A private family graveside service will take place at Riverdale Mennonite Cemetery, Millbank.

HAHN, Melissa (Dippy) of Route 3 Monkton

HAHN, Melissa (Dippy) – passed away peacefully at her residence RR 3 Monkton on Friday February 3, 2017 one day before her 42nd birthday. Melissa was a dialysis patient at Stratford General Hospital for twelve years.  She will be remembered by everyone for her determination to live through one crisis after another.  She taught everyone around her to live in the moment.  Melissa enjoyed many things in life – family celebrations and attending her brother’s midget hockey games.  Faith, family, friends and her love of music fulfilled Melissa’s life.

Cherished daughter of Bruce and Diane (Metzger) Hahn.  Dear sister of Darrick Hahn (Jane Barkley), Bill Hahn (Jennifer MacNeil), Pam Brame (Trevor), Charlene (Punk) Hahn, Adam Hahn (Megan Weitzel), Christopher Smith.  Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Noah, Mira, Eadie, Kaden, Ashlyn, Jimmy and Owen.  Also remembered by special friends Aaron Smith, Lisa Satchell, Heidi Long, Mary Ellen Ropp and her aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours and friends.
