Elizabeth Coriene Fischer (née Anstett) of R.R. #2 Mildmay, passed away suddenly with family by her side at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Thursday, December 29th, 2016 in her 80th year.

Beloved wife of Tom Fischer.

Loving mother of Greg Fischer (Paula) of R. R. #2 Teeswater, Gary Fischer (Joan) of R.R. #4 Walkerton, Shelley Weber (Gerald) of R. R. #2 Mildmay, Sherry Cronin (Paul) of Teeswater, Grant Fischer (Diana) of Toronto and Graham Fischer (Matt Schroeder) of R.R. #2 Mildmay.

Sadly missed by her 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8:30, followed by Vigil Prayers at 8:45. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Formosa on Thursday, January 5th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Father Michael Anderson officiating.

PETRIE, Muriel of Milverton

Muriel Petrie – passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Monday December 12, 2016 at the age of 94.  Muriel was a member of the former Donegal United Church, Donegal UCW and a past president of the Donegal Women’s Institute.  She was a former 4H Leader in Perth County and a former crossing guard in Milverton.  In the late 1950’s, Muriel obtained her nurses aid certificate and proudly worked at Knollcrest Lodge.

Dear mother of Donna Patterson (Jim), Ken Petrie, Bill Petrie, Maureen Houston (Vince Bergin) and Bob Petrie.  Special grandma of Ken, David, Richard, Scott, Kyle, Jill, Amy, Jonathon, and Jennifer.  Sister of Earl Buchanan.  Fondly remembered by her 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents William and Alice (Thorndyke) Buchanan, daughter-in-law Deanna Petrie, sisters Marie Blackwell (Tom), Mary Park (Steve), brother Alvin Buchanan (Minnie) and sister-in-law Vera Buchanan.

In keeping with Muriel’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood on Saturday December 17, 2016 at 12:00 p.m.  Spring interment in Donegal Cemetery, Donegal.

Lilias Posliff – formerly of Monkton, passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Sunday December 11, 2016 at the age of 102. Lilias and her husband Charles (Parker) operated a hardware store in Monkton for 20 years and later an antique store known as Parker’s Ponderosa.

Beloved wife of the late Charles Posliff who predeceased her in 1991. Loving mother of Marian Harvey (Bob) of Stratford and Jake Posliff (Heather) of Nanaimo, BC.  Special grandma of Alandra (Wanda) Anderson (David), Janice Harvey (Bob), Robert Posliff (Hang), Stephen Posliff (Jamie) and great grandma of Mason (Jenelle), Sam, Aidan, Brendan, Jessica, Tim and Tanis.  Sister of Robert Adair (Alice) of Mississauga.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents David and Fannie (Rowland) Adair, great grand-daughter Nicole Wagler, sisters Hazel Ellacott (Russell), Betty Adair, brother Leslie Adair (Dorothy) and niece Francis Vanstone.

In keeping with Lilias’ wishes, cremation has taken place.  A memorial service and interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood will take place in the spring.

Esther was a member of Poole Mennonite Church where she was a former member of the ladies Sewing Circle.  She enjoyed working as a Home Care worker in the Waterloo area for many years.  Esther also enjoyed crocheting and quilting and loved spending time at their trailer at Miller’s Family Camp at Miller Lake.

Beloved wife of Ralph Kropf with whom she celebrated 69 years of marriage on November 9th.  Loving mother of Karen Schultz (Robert), Larry (Debbie), Bruce (Donelda) and Terry Lynn Gropp (Bruce).  Cherished grandma of Julie White (Ron) and their children Lexi and Dawson; Mark Schultz (Henrietta) and their children Zach and Chloe; Stephanie Kearsey (Mark) and their children Quinn, Koen and Saige; Samantha King (Mark) and their children Addyson and Gavyn; Amanda Wagler (Eric) and their son Miles; Anthony Kropf; Eric Kropf and step grandchildren Hillis, Damon and Shane Halbert.  Dear sister of Laura Kipfer and sister-in-law of Margaret Henning.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Willa was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel.  She enjoyed knitting, time spent at the trailer in Port Elgin, campfires, singing, playing cards and board games and especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late Gordon Ament who predeceased her in 2000. Loving mother of Brian (predeceased 1985), Linda (Keith) Holmes and Paul (Mary Lynne) Ament.  Special grandma of Kelly (Wes) and their children Aaron and Brennan; Stacey, Mark (Lindsey), Marlee and Brynn.  Sister-in-law of Edith Schalk and Eileen Ament.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Harvey was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Monkton and a former volunteer firefighter with the Monkton Fire Station.  He enjoyed playing cards and fishing for speckled trout.

Beloved husband of Eldeen (Raycraft) Ward with whom he would have shared 66 years of marriage on November 4th.  Loving father of Doug (Elaine), Daryle (Kim), Lyle (Heidi).  Special grandpa of Cory (Sherry Lynn), Tarra (Gary), Angie, Jennifer, Tim (Rosanna), Jeremy (Melinda) Christina (Ben), Micheal (Angie), Derek (Andrea), April (Derek), Devon (Sarah), 31 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren.  Brother and brother-in-law of Sally Scott, Jim Ward, Olive Ward, Terry Ward and Ruth Ward.  Fondly remembered by the Ward nieces and nephews, Rick Davidson (Diann) and the extended Raycraft family.

dewar-tom2-001DEWAR, Thomas (Tom) – of Listowel, formerly of RR2 Atwood, passed away after a brief illness at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday October 13, 2016 at the age of 77. Tom was a true farmer, spending time at the farmer’s markets at Kitchener and Waterloo Stockyards and Listowel Livestock, but always found time to enjoy camping at Family Paradise Campground and playing Lost Heir.  He took great pride in his Ford 8N tractor.

Beloved husband of Lorraine (Pestell) Dewar whom he married in 1960.  Loving father of Deb Best, Paul (Jodie) and Greg (Cindy). Special grandpa of Dennis (Mel), Darryl (Lisa), Candace (Jeramey), Chelsea (Steve) and great- grandpa of Lily and Bryson.  Dear brother of Shirley Buchanan, Jessie Buchanan, Marj (Paul) Krauter and Dorie Wagner (Ron Hartman).  Brother-in-law of Mary Strachan, Larry Pestell (Arlene Riehl), Faye Welsh (Ken), Robert Pestell, Andy Buchanan, Elaine Pestell, Lillian Pestell and Pauline Pestell. For many years Jo-Anne worked for Newry and Monkton Veterinary Services.  She then started her own secretarial services business with 22 years at Hutchinson Welding and 14 years at Maitland Terrace.  Jo-Anne’s commitment and gift to the work force was her compassion and love she extended to everyone she touched.

Beloved wife of Glen Hurst whom she married in 1974. Loving mother of Ann-Marie (Ken) Rehberg and Travis Hurst.  Special nana of Jocelyn who predeceased her in 2012 and Jordan Rehberg.  Dear sister of Gerard (Karenann) Herrgott, Donna Herrgott, Julie (Rick) Brubacher and sister-in-law of Lloyd (Mary Ann) Hurst.  Fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by her parents Tommy and Annette (Siopiolosz) Herrgott.

Michael “Karl” Lang of Teeswater passed away suddenly at Wingham and District Hospital on Saturday, October 8th, 2016 in his 80th year.

Beloved husband of Lorna Lang (née Fischer).

Loving father of Gerard Lang (Lori) of Waterloo, Joanne Lang of Wingham, Stephen Lang of Waterloo and Michael Lang (Jodie) of Everett.

Sadly missed by his grandchildren who gave him great enjoyment, Ian Lang (Jayme Giesler), Anna Lang, Melissa Atkinson (Sarah Lyttle), Emily Atkinson (Frank Quatrini), Rebecca Atkinson, Zack Lang, Ryan Lang, Carli Lang, Sophia Lang, Jacob Lang and Megan Lang, he loved them dearly.

Dear brother of Shirley Anne Lang (late Harry Psutka) of Kitchener.

Fondly remembered by members of the Fischer family. Karl was very loved and admired by his numerous nieces and nephews.  He took great pleasure in the time they spent together.

Predeceased by his parents, Martin and Catherine (née Sullivan) Lang, infant daughter Valerie, brother Donald Lang and sister Adele Lang.

Karl was a dedicated truck driver for the Teeswater Creamery and GayLea for 40 years, served with the Teeswater-Culross Fire Department for 25 years and a municipal councillor for 13 years.

A casual visitation will be held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., with Knights of Columbus Service at 8:30, followed by Vigil Prayers at 8:45. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Teeswater on Wednesday, October 12th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Father Michael Anderson as celebrant.

Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Beth resided at Country Meadows Retirement Home, Brunner and was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church Monkton.  She enjoyed spending time with her family at the cottage, knitting, crocheting and gardening.

Beloved wife of the late Elmer Pehlke who predeceased her in 2004.  Loving mother of Diane (deceased 2012) and Terry Dietrich, Eric and Kathy Pehlke, Brian Pehlke, Keith and Kathy Pehlke, Janet and Donald Buchanan. FRY: Karren Ann of Vancouver Formerly of Ontario

images-4It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Karren Ann Fry. Karren passed away in her home on June 13, 2016. 

Karren was was born to Alan (2013) and Elizabeth (Betty Ann) Fry on December 12, 1976 at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria B.C.  After an early life in British Columbia, Karren’s family moved to Ontario where she completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours in Criminology from Windsor University in Ontario, which led to her working with RCMP in the student program as a young adult.  She eventually moved to Vancouver BC where she married Cary De Best and had her beautiful daughter, Leah.  In time, Karren ventured out on her own and worked as a support worker for adults with mental illness.
 
Karren was a loving mother, dedicated family member and a good friend. Her raw sincerity, infectious laugh, sense of humour and amazing spirit made her a joy to be around. She would brighten anyone’s day with a caring message of support or a ridiculous story.  

Karren was a sincere Buddhist and loved travelling to international Dharma Festivals with her brother for teachings and inspiration.  Special powa ceremonies were performed for Karren by Gen Kelsang Thekchen and friends at Kadampa Mediation Centre Vancouver on June 20th, 2016, As well by her Teacher and friend Gen Kelsang Delek and many others.

Karren enjoyed nature and would find peace during a long walk with her daughter in the parks that line the beautiful coast of Vancouver.  She especially loved animals and adored her two little boy cats Thomas (T-Dawg) and Sammy. 

Her family, friends, and all those she touched will miss her tremendously. Karren is survived by her beautiful and loving daughter, Leah De Best (Cary); Her Mother Elizabeth and grandmother Nelda Sauer; her uncles Jim, Ron, Tom, Doug and her Aunt Ellen; her brother Jeff Fry (Devon) and niece Lexa; and her sister Leanne Fry. 
 

There will be a a celebration of life on July 2nd, 2016 from 11:00am – 2:00pm at St. James Community Centre, 3214 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver B.C.

IMG_0013Bart Leenders passed away on August 29, 2016, at the age of 61, with his family at his side. Bart is lovingly remembered by his wife Elly, his daughters Trish (Scotty) Anderson, Janet (Daniel) Roelands; his son Marty Leenders (Tracy Hunsberger); his grandchildren Elliot and Miles Anderson, Hannah, Dominic, Aaron, Anthony and Jordan Roelands; his brother Theo (Anne) Leenders; his sisters Liesbeth Janssen and Marian (Stan) Kroekenstoel; his father-in-law Jack Smeekens; his brothers and sisters-in-law Jane Rombouts, Frank (Karen) Smeekens, Lia (Mark) Schepers, Pete (Nell) Smeekens, Jim (Anita) Smeekens; and his nieces and nephews. Bart is predeceased by his infant daughter, his parents Rudolf and Theresa Leenders, his mother-in-law Wilma Smeekens, and his brothers-in-law Pete Rombouts and Koos Janssen. Born in the Netherlands, Bart moved to Canada with his family at the age of 18, in 1973. Bart worked on the family dairy farm until he met his true love Elly Smeekens.  He and Elly raised their children on a dairy farm near Stratford. In 2000 they sold the cows and joined the pork industry. In 2013 they retired to a farm near Forest, Ontario.  Farming was Bart’s life and he farmed whenever he could, and spoke of it whenever he couldn’t, treasuring the stories, relationships and pride he cultivated along the way.  Following Bart’s request, there will be a private burial.  We welcome family and friends to join us for a celebration of Bart’s life which will be held at The Forest Legion (58 Albert St., Forest, Ontario), on Thursday, September 1, 2016, from 7:00 pm – 10:00pm. Beloved husband of the late Ardonna LeGrand (née Johnston) who predeceased him on January 11th, 2015.

Dear father of Rob LeGrand and his wife Susan of Owen Sound and Jim LeGrand and his wife Michele of Tiverton.

Missed by his grandsons Alex and William.

Fondly remembered by his sister Marjorie Doherty of New Carlisle, Quebec, his brother George LeGrand (Evelyn) of Paspébiac, Quebec and several nieces and nephews.
