web_Straky_Kathleen_revisedagainIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our precious wife, mother and grandmother at the age of 74. She fought a very courageous battle to give her family the gift of extra time and extra memories. Kathleen met with the Lord peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday July 2, 2014. Cherished wife and loving partner of Karl with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Loving mother of Susan and husband Steve Mayo, Karl and wife Jillian, Craig and wife Pamela, Rob and wife Cynthia, and baby Shawna (1962). Adored grandmother of Lauren, Jacquelyn, Andrew, Karl IV, Michael, Kent, Julia, Kurtis and Ethan. Predeceased by her parents Marvin and Francis Elliott. Dear sister of Bud and Liz Elliott and Dale Elliott. Also survived by her aunt Evelyn, sister-in-laws Helen and Eva and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom`s greatest joy in life was enjoying time with her family to whom she was totally devoted to and immensely proud of. Over the years, Kathleen led an active lifestyle which included travelling, golfing, boating, cooking and spending many hours in her garden which was always meticulously manicured and bursting with colour. She had a wonderful sense of humour and despite her challenges, kept us laughing right until the very end. The family would like to thank all of the healthcare professionals and providers from HDGH Ouellette Campus, Henry Ford Hospital, Malden Park Tayfour Campus, CCAC, SEHC and Bayshore for providing special love and care during the last 2 years of her battle. Special thanks to our “quarterback”, Dr. Sherman for guiding us through this very difficult journey. In lieu of flowers, a donation made in Kathleen`s memory to WRH – Ouellette Campus – Cardiac and Pulmonary Units would be greatly appreciated by the family. Resting peacefully at Families First Funeral Home. Visitation Sunday 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Prayers Sunday 8pm. Visitation available Monday 9:15am -10:15am from Families First 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor (519 969 5841) to Holy Name of Mary Church (681 McEwan Avenue) for Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.
