Peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, Elsie May Stewart (nee Bradley) passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospice, on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the age of 88.   Beloved wife of Kenton “Bill” Stewart for 64 ½ years.   Loving mother of Janet Hunt Baier (Dale) of Waterloo and Dan Stewart (Lisa) of Sarnia.   Cherished grandmother of Erin Hunt Dienesch (Chris), Bradley Hunt of Waterloo, Christopher Brock Stewart (Susan) of Edmonton and Lee Ross Stewart  (partner Kelly Mycroft  of Aukland, New Zealand. Loved great grandmother of Emerson Elsie Dienesch.  Dear sister of Bill Bradley (Audrey) of London and sister-in-law Elaine Chalmers (the late Bill) of London.  Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
Elsie was passionate about children and animals.  She worked tirelessly with the Sertoma Club’s Christmas Miracle program for many years to provide Christmas gifts for underprivileged children.  She was a regular visitor to the Sarnia Humane Society to deliver treats, food and donations.  Above all else Elsie cherished and nurtured her family.  Her four grandchildren were the lights of her life and the recent arrival of her great granddaughter, Emerson Elsie, delighted her beyond measure.  Elsie was a kind and compassionate soul and she will be sorely missed by her family, friends and community.  We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Cheung and the 4th floor acute care nurses for their kind and gentle care and to Dr. Madison and the exceptional staff at St. Joseph Hospice for their compassionate, loving care and guidance.  A private family visitation and service will be held.  Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, Sarnia
