Peacefully at Bluewater Health on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, Frederick Stankiewicz entered eternal life, with his daughter by his side. Fred was proud to have a devoted daughter and fellow traveller, Barbara, loving son-in-law, Sean Ozburn, and admiring grandchildren Alden and Frances. Predeceased by his wife Alexandra Stankiewicz (2011) and his sister Felicia (Stankiewicz) Uchman.
Fred served in the Polish Armoured Division in WWII before emigrating from England to Sarnia. He was pleasantly surprised to live to the age of ninety and was thrilled to receive acknowledgement from the Prime Minister and Governor General. He was a true gentleman and is missed greatly. Heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Bluewater Health, especially those of the Palliative Care Unit. A special thank you to the VON, LEO and Bayshore for the care given to Fred at home.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 21, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, with prayers being offered at 6:00 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 566 Rosedale Ave., Sarnia.
Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Red Cross, VON, or Lambton Elderly Outreach (cheques only at the funeral home please). http://smithfuneralhome.ca/
