SPENCER: Roberta “Bobby” of Ottawa Formerly of Toronto, Halifax, Buffalo, NY

images-4Roberta “Bobby” Spencer, 89 years of Ottawa. Passed peacefully on Nov 23, 2015 after enduring complications from a recent hip fracture and subsequent surgery. Bobby enjoyed a loving and devoted marriage of 52 years to her late husband Bruce (1998). She is predeceased by her brother Salvatore, sister Angela and daughter Josephine. Bobby will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, Nona, Great-Nona, Auntie and friend. She is survived by her daughter Regina and son-in-law William Peters, her grandchildren Rebecca (Michael) Hill, Maria (Anthony) Gallo, Theresa Cusimano, Nicholas Cusimano, and great-grand children Olivia and Zachary. Aunt Bobby was devoted to her niece Sylvia (Stephen) Atkers, nephew Phillip Dumont and great nieces Andrea Selser, Bridget Scott and Tiffany Plougher. In addition to her circle of friends in and around Ottawa, Bobby maintained contact and correspondence with numerous friends she met during the years she and Bruce lived in Buffalo, NY, Toronto and Halifax.

Bobby was proud to be a 25+ year survivor of breast cancer and actively volunteered her time and resources to help find a cure. She was an excellent cook and hostess, a talented quilter, a wild dancer well into her 80s, a true and loyal friend and very devoted fan of Frank Sinatra.

The Peters and Hill families want to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to Reta Krishna and Sandra Delgado who were Bobby’s devoted and hard working home health aids, her neighbors Robert and Sally Pichman and niece Andrea who all helped care for Bobby during the last difficult weeks. The loving care, attention, help and meals you provided allowed Bobby to spend her final days at home and provided such comfort to us.

Cremation has taken place in accordance to Bobby’s wishes and a private family service was held. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. http://www.cbcf.org/ontario/GetInvolved/Donate/Pages/default.aspx
