Dr. Anthony Karl Snopek passed away peacefully in hospital on Sunday, 7 December 2014 with his wife, Marie, by his side. Tony was born in Radosina, Czechoslovakia in 1932. In 1957, he graduated from the medical faculty of Komenskeho (Comenius) University in Bratislava with a specialization in internal medicine. Dr. Snopek immigrated to Canada in 1968. After receiving his licence from The Medical Council of Canada, he opened a private medical practice in Sarnia and worked there until his retirement. A kind, generous, warm-hearted and much respected man, Tony loved nature, art, music and politics. He was never one to pass up a good debate. Tony enjoyed travelling to understand and appreciate different cultures, and always had an entertaining tale to tell amongst friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and by all those whose lives he so deeply touched. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on the occasion of Tony’s 83rd birthday, on 11 January 2015, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 261 Christina St. N., Sarnia, at 2:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health, Sarnia.
