Smithson, Brian “Barney” of Port Stanley, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, November 10th, 2012, at the L.H.S.C. (University Campus), in his 76th year. Beloved husband of the late Joyce (Allen) Smithson and dearly loved brother of Marilyn (Smithson) Ross of Port Stanley. Loved uncle of Su and Shay Redmond and Bradley and Deb Ross. Dear great uncle of Joslyn (Rory) and their daughter Isla and Justin (Melissa) and children Karley and Marques. Barney will be missed by his four legged friend “Lucky”. Brian was born in London, Ontario on July 31st, 1937, the son of the late Len and Audrey Smithson. He worked as a licensed mechanic for McManus Motor, then College Sports and then General Marine. After retirement he owned and operated Crews Quarters in Port Stanley. He was a member of the Tin Can Tourists (vintage motor homes).

A public memorial service to celebrate Barney’s life will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Visitation Wednesday from 12-1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place, with private scattering of ashes in the Old English Churchyard Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, with remembrances to the charity of choice.
