SMITH, Murray A., of R.R.1, Fingal, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, June 1, 2017, in his 95th year.  Beloved husband for 63 years to the late Betty (née Thomas) Smith (2014).  Dearly loved father of Myrna Stoss (Werner) of Shedden, and the late Dale F. Smith (2001).  Cherished grandfather of Jerry Smith (Michelle Hughes) of London, Craig Stoss (Christine Horn) of Waterloo, and Laura Hofer (Michael) of Fergus.  Proud great grandpa “at the farm” of Brayden and Riley Smith of London, and Isaac Hofer of Fergus.  Dear brother of Donna Mozga (late Joseph) of Sarnia, Lena Samis (late Paul), and Doreen Hewitt (late Bill), all of St. Thomas, late Wray Smith (Audré of St. Thomas), late Leonard Smith (late Jean), late Elsie Campbell (late Tom), and the late Ethel McNea (late Alvin).  Also fondly remembered by in-laws, Mary Lou and Don MacKinnon of Port Stanley, and by many nieces and nephews and their families.  Born in Southwold Twp., ON, July 15, 1922, he was the son of the late Emery and Leta (née Mizen) Smith.  Murray was an adherent of Dunwich United Church, Dutton, and a former long-time member and Treasurer of Fingal United Church. He was an avid gardener, lifetime farmer, and member of the Holstein Friesian Association, where he previously served as President. Murray was a veteran having served in the Second World War. Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Tuesday, June 6th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 7th at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to follow in Elmdale Memorial Park.  Memorial donations to the Caring Cupboard or Dunwich United Church Re: Building Fund gratefully acknowledged.
