Peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 5th, 2012 in his 77th year. David, loving husband of Alecia (nee Winch). Loving Dad of Debra Smallwood and her partner Leslie Monk of Burnaby, British Columbia, David and his wife Sharon of Cambridge, and Dennis and his partner Sherry Landry of Kitchener. Proud Grandpa of Kayla and Dylan. David will be sadly missed by Doug Seiler, Cindy and her husband Larry Carr, Tracy and her husband Gerry Lambert and all of their children Stephanie, Natalie (Adam), Kristen (Scott), Greg (Steph), and Chad.  Dear brother of Doris Gies, Maxine (John) Willoughby and Kevin (Rinka) Smallwood. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his mother Mary and father David, brothers Alex, Gus, Jerry and sister Rita.

Dave was a longtime resident of Kitchener, Ontario serving on the Kitchener Fire Department for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was a tremendous athlete, playing all sports and excelling at baseball, hockey and golf. Dave had a long career playing for the Kitchener Panthers of the Senior Inter-county League. Dave also enjoyed his time on the golf course. As a longtime member of the Rockway Golf Club, he would instill the passion of the game in his two sons. After retirement he would join his wife as a member at the Saugeen Golf Club in Port Elgin.

Friends will be received at the Family home, 310 Saugeen Beach Road, Port Elgin, on Saturday, September 15th from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. for a casual celebration of David`s life.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the T.A. Brown Funeral Home, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, 519-832-2222.

Memorial donations to the Whistlebear Junior Performance Golf Team or the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
