Born March 14, 1933 in Seaforth, Ontario, she was predeceased by her father Herman Frieday and mother Rita (nee: Hartman), loving husband John “Jack” Morrison Slatterie, her brother Bruce and first wife Edna Hiusser, and survived by his second wife Marian (nee: Holt). Shirley is survived by her sisters Elaine Hunt of Guelph, Joanne Frieday (Rolf) of Wellington, Ontario and brother Ron Frieday (Bernice) of Brampton. She spent much of her retirement in Venice, Florida, where she sharpened her bridge playing and painting skills. She accepted many commissions for her painting while in Venice. Everyone who knew Shirley regarded her as dignified, artistic, kind, thoughtful, determined, independent and stubborn, all that you could hope for in a life’s partner, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, friend and teacher.
