Stan was a longtime, proud member of Local 663. He signed a professional baseball contract with the St. Louis Cardinals at the age of 14, and played 9 years in the Cardinal and Brave organizations. He then began a passionate, lifetime of participation in local and regional sports. Stan’s greatest satisfaction and joy came through his uncanny ability to fundraise, which enabled countless youth teams to participate, operate and compete in Canadian, American and International events. Stanley was inducted into the Lambton County Sports Hall of Fame (professional category) and has received countless awards and dedication recognition locally and from the government. He was an avid campaigner and supporter of many charities, including the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society and Huron House Boys Home, to name a few.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Marshall Gowland Manor and their wonderful staff for their compassionate care of Stanley for the past six months.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 16, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
