SESTERAK: Sharon Elaine

After a brief but valiant battle with cancer, Sharon Elaine Sesterak (nee Schuyler) passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia, Ontario, at the age of 72. Sharon was born in Windsor, Ontario, on January 12, 1943 to parents Blanche and Alan Schuyler, who predeceased her, and was later gifted with a younger brother, Glen, a beloved friend throughout her formative years. The family moved to Sarnia in 1949 where she was destined to meet the love of her life, Steve Sesterak. She married Steve in 1968 and soon gave up her career as a bank teller to become a stay-at-home Mom to her two cherished sons, John and Chris. Sharon lived in close proximity to both her parents and to her brother’s family throughout her life. She was involved in the SMAA 5 pin bowling league in Sarnia for many years, and will be fondly remembered by the many youth she mentored and influenced through her work at Northgate Bowl. She was a quiet and yet strong-willed lady with a love of reading, especially mysteries, and a passion for cross-stitch, knitting, and bird watching. Sharon is survived and missed by her husband of 47 years, Steve Sesterak, her son John Sesterak, her son Chris Sesterak and daughter-in-law Sarah Gordon; grandsons Jasper and Winston Sesterak; her brother Glen and sister-in-law Daphne Schuyler, her nephews Jamie (Laurie), Joe (Amberley), and Michael (Billie-Jo) Schuyler; her sister-in-law Ann Enghardt and nephew Paul. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation taking place one hour prior to service. Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. A small reception will follow at the Smith Family Centre. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or a charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
