Passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on December 17, 2013 at 90 years of age. Born September 12, 1923 in Schalkwijk in the Netherlands. Beloved husband of the late Antonia Schuurman (2005). Loving father of Henry and wife Maureen of Maidstone, John and wife Laura of Plainfield, Illinois, Gary of Thunder Bay, William and wife Iona of North Vancouver, Corinne and husband Brian Knight of Blenheim, Paul and Lillian of LaSalle, Martin and wife Vicki of Lakeshore, Dan and Janet of LaSalle, and Theresa of Windsor. Predeceased by his daughter Joanne (1966). Loving grandfather of 20 grandchildren and 5.75 great-grandchildren. Survived by two brothers and two sisters. Predeceased by four brothers and three sisters. Dear friend of Yvonne Parker and the late Ted Brown. Julius was a Superintendent with Loaring Construction. He was a member of Local # 494 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Julius was an active parishioner and former council member at Holy Name of Jesus Church. He was an honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus # 3305 – Essex.  Julius is resting at the Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. (519-776-7378) 128 Talbot St. N, Essex on Friday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers & Knight of Columbus Prayers Friday at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday friends are invited to meet the family after 9:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church (146 Talbot St. S, Essex) followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Maidstone.
