Geert “Gerald” Schippers of Chatham, formerly of R.R.2 Dresden, passed into glory in the arms of his precious Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Monday, November 13th, 2017. He was born in Friesland, The Netherlands. Son of the late Jan and Trijntje Schippers (nee Kootstra). Beloved husband of the late Hielkje “Hilda” Schippers (nee VanBeets -2014) for over 60 years. Father of late Patricia McKay (2011), Catherine (Tim) Bisschop, John Schippers, and the late Karl Schippers (1978). Pake and grandpa to Kyle (Erin) Bisschop, Colin Bisschop, Cady (David) Bisschop, Nathanial (Janet) McKay, and Leah McKay. Gerald will be forever remembered by his two great grandchildren Benjamin and Alexandria Bisschop-Cadotte.  Dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Jan (Teikje) Schippers, the late Klaas (Ge) Schippers, Sjoerdtje (Jan) Tabak, Grace (the late Mike) Pietens, the late Winnie (the late George) Vroom, Fran and Herman Vellinga, Walt (Louise) Timmermans, and Sylvia Rotter, as well as by many nieces and nephews in both Canada and the Netherlands. Gerald was employed at National Hardware in Dresden for over 40 years, and ran a small family farm. Friends and family will be received at DENNING’S OF CHATHAM (519-352-2390), 4 Victoria Avenue, on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 from 10am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11am.
