It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Georgina Schairer after a sudden illness on August 16, 2012. Predeceased by her beloved husband Alvin (2010). Georgina is survived by loving sons Bryan (Sandra) and Allen, both residing in Sarnia. Georgina also leaves her granddaughter Stephanie, great-grandson Quentin, both of Guelph, and her grandson Timothy in Sarnia. Also surviving her are sisters Janet Kachman (Clarence) of Edmonton, Lorraine Kettle (Robert) of Calgary and a brother Leo (Donna) of Edmonton. As well, Georgina leaves several nieces and nephews residing in Alberta and British Columbia. Born in Fairview, Alberta, May 30, 1931, vision problems necessitated Georgina coming to Ontario to be educated at the Brantford School For The Blind. Upon graduation, she took up permanent residence, marrying and starting a family in Sarnia. Georgina resided at Sumac Lodge for the past five years and special thanks go to their staff and residents who helped her remain as independent as possible. As well, thank you to the medical team at Bluewater Health Sarnia for their efforts and compassion during her recent crisis. Family and friends will be received from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. A graveside service will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian National Institute For The Blind, Bluewater Health Foundation, or the charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
