Beloved wife of the late Henk Schaafsma (Sept. 15, 2012) and dearly loved mother Allan (Jo Ann) Schaafsma of Chatham, James (Irene) Schaafsma of Sparta and the late Durk Schaafsma (August 12, 2010). Loved grandmother of Greg, Melissa (Derek), Lindsay, Shelly (Ken), Jessica (Ryan) and Brad (Cathy) and great grandmother of Liam, Livia, Ally and Parker. Dear sister of George (Liz) Hoekstra, Sadie (late Jack, 2012) Dykstra and the late Gary Hoekstra (2009). Dear sister-in-law of Sietse “Sam” Schaafsma, Jan (Tineke) Schaafsma, Dick (Hieke) Schaafsma and Attie (Gerritt) Vanderwoude, all of The Netherlands and Andy (Eva) Schaafsma of St. Thomas. Predeceased by sister- in- law Jantje (Zus) Schaafsma. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Renee was born in Garyp, Holland on July 23rd, 1928. She was a Co-owner of Shaw’s Bakery with her late husband Henk. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Reformed Church and a member of the St. Thomas Ladies’ Choir “Gloria in Excelsis”.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Kidney Foundation or the St. Thomas Community Christian School.
