SARIS, Nicolaas J. “Nick”, of St. Thomas, passed away at his residence on Sunday, February 23, 2014, in his 60th year.  Beloved husband for over 38 years to Mary (nee Watson) Saris.  Dearly loved father of Steven Saris (Vicki) of Straffordville, and Shawn Saris of St. Thomas.  Proud grandfather of Sadie Pettit-Saris and Brooke Saris.  Dear brother of Clasina “Chris” Camp of St. Thomas, Paige Mills (Martin) of Winnipeg, MB, late Margaret Quaite and the late Pieter Saris Jr.  Dear son-in-law of Irene Watson and the late Bill Watson.  Nick is also fondly remembered by numerous extended relatives in Canada and The Netherlands.  Born in Den Hague, The Netherlands, October 30, 1954, he was the son of the late Margaretha (nee Vanden Oever) and Pieter Saris Sr.  Nick was employed at Timken Canada LP for over 39 years and was an active member of the United Steelworkers of America.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A public memorial service to celebrate Nick’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 60 West Ave., St. Thomas on Saturday, March 1st at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Inurnment of his cremated remains will be made privately in Elmdale Memorial Park.  If so desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association will be gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
